5.5 Gen Tokico Illumina's Settings
5.5 Gen Tokico Illumina's Settings
Hey Guys,
Only had my 02 for a few weeks. Last owner (also an Org member) had Illumina's installed. What settings does everyone use??
This is a daily driver that I want to handle well. Probably won't be doing anything like Autocrossing. Well as well as you can expoect a 4DSC.
I thought it felt kind of soft and when I looked today I noticed that the fronts were set at 1. Not sure what the rears are. Will check later.
I had them on my Integra and if I remember correctly I had them set to 2 or 3.
When I followed up on the Tokiko site I found that 1 is the softest setting.
The car has 90K on it with fairly new Michelin Pilots all around..
What settings does everyone normally use??
Thanks.

1 is the softest 5 is the stiffest ,jus change the settings, take it for a ride and see what setting u like the most. are u on stock springs? i have mine set at 3 in the front and 5 in the back
First thing I have to do is look at the back.
Thanks for the info.
i have illuminas with eibach springs
Is the rear suppose to feel really stiff @ 5? they don't seem blown.. i was expecting more stiffness.. i run 5/5 and i feel like its still not stiff.. lolz Is it better handling wise to not be at 5? maybe the eibachs isn't reaching its progressive rate.. hmm
All the car has is shocks, springs, and rims other than that its stock performance wise..

If your running stock springs leave them at 1. Other wise you have too much dampening and loose contact with the road over bumps. Its all about matching your compression and rebound with the spring rate.
hmmm, i think i like 3/5.. its weird that the rear feels tight, but the front feels actually more smooth throughout corners.. and i don't get the bumpy ride as much as when i had 5/5.. I didn't really mind the bumpy ride, as i was actually expecting and hoping for a stiff set up..
Thanks All,
I understand JSutter saying leave them at one to match spring rates, but it almosts feels like I'm not gettin any damping. Almost like it bottoms hard on small potholes.
My car seems like a twin to Mist MAX2000 but without all the goodies.
Tomorrow I'l bump it up a little and see how it seems. It's so easy I might as well give a couple different settings a try although everyone seems to be running much stiffer in the rears.
I'll let everyone know.
Thanks,
Bert

Im riding on 2/4 now. They front was just too stiff when it get very cold here, crash over bumps was rediculous at 3 or 4. But during the summer 4/4 was great and I may try 4/5 when spring hits. On eibachs btw.

What the heck is causing that crashing sound anyways?
I had mine with Progress springs and mostly had them on 3F/4R for regular commuting. On road trips I went to 2/3 to try to make it a little more comfy.
I did try 4/4 or 4/5 for fun, but those were much less forgiving on rough roads obviously.
The best thing about these is you can play around with them, so I'd say just experiment until you find something that suits your driving, your comfort preference, and road conditions.
