14" will be fine. Sound should be pretty mild.

Just the other day I had Cattman headers installed along with a Fastcat, still keeping my unresonated b-pipe and straight through Vibrant 1148 muffler and let me tell you when we fired up my car for the first time it sounded like my tech's full blown race car!! It was exactly like a tank lol. The very next morning I had a small Vibrant resonated welded into my b-pipe, about 10" long. That didn't do jack to quiet my car down.

I am now in search of a resonator or muffler that is packed with steel wool instead of fiberglass like most are.

Here is what my car currently sounds like: I don't think it's terrible...just VERY loud and just a tad raspy. Any tips from the big org gurus to quiet it down would be appreciated(by my neighbors LOL).

Cool, thanks for the info! I just gotta decide what size magnaflow res to order now. Any suggestions? I don't plan on doing headers or a b pipe anytime soon.

How restrictive are Magnaflows? While I want it to be quieter, I'm loving the unrestricted exhaust flow!

Mild, but a good bit louder than my current setup? Especially with 2.5" piping, I would imagine.

I know another guy with a 2000 AE maxima with magnaflow exhaust and resonator. Sound is really nice but a little louder than me with headers. He has stock setup from the cat forward. I have no idea what size resonator or which muffler. But when i first saw his car i thought he had the cattman catback because the tips were really close to looking the same

Well I think I'm gonna go with the 14" unless someone else has a good reason to get a longer size.

Honestly you seem like the type that would like a 4"x9" bullet more than a 14" resonator. You can probably settle for the 14", and you will definately like it more when you realize it's bearable in the cabin.

So the 14" is OK in the cabin but the 9" is really loud? Yeah, I don't want it to be really loud in the car.

The 9" will be loud and bearable in the cabin but it will be pretty loud. The 14" might seem like it's not loud enough but it'll be comfortable in the cabin.

Actually, I just ordered the 14" cause that was the shortest the website had. Plus, I thought the bullet might have been too much inside for me.

WOW, I got my resonator like 15 mins ago!! It got here in like 2 days! I never got a package this early in the morning either, so thanks FedEx!

I'm going to the shop to have this put on and the 2.5" piping made. I will be sure to get an audio clip up soon.

Got it done today, sounds really awesome! I will get a sound clip up when it's not so freaking cold out!

By the way, I ordered it Saturday at like 11PM and it was here Wednesday at 8AM, and that was with the basic shipping! I was thrilled!

Bump for soundclip?

I'll post a little update from my side. I got rid of that tiny Vibrant res I had put into my b-pipe and put in a 18" MagnaFAIL resonator. Once again, despite the large resonator, it got MORE of a rumble and more volume...but I'll admit a tad bit less rasp. I hated it and got rid of that the next day. I had a Cattman res put in thanks to a fellow local orger who had an extra one and that yielded the best results so far. It's the quietest, least raspy setup so far...but still very loud.

I've now ordered this: http://www.magnaflow.com/02product/s...e=main&id=7730

I must be crazy to order something from Magnaflow again after their resonator did nothing for me. But this muffler is actually larger than stock LOL, 24in vs 19in stock. I'm hoping it'll produce a deep, mellow, and smooth tone that isn't harsh or too loud.

viperboy: Any updates on a soundclip?

skidz88 and sparks03max: I wanted your advice on me building an exhaust; I was going to go with a 3" Mandrel bent (catless) with a Vibrant Performance StreetPower 3" Inlet w/Dual 3.5" Outlet (stock style) muffler. Do you guys recommend me putting on a big *** resonator; to quiet her down? I saw great results people are making with the 3" system and wanted to try it out.
