Magnaflow muffler question.

If i wanted to put on a magnaflow muffler on basically a stock exhaust system on my 2000 max, what kind of sound am i expecting? I dont want a raspy sound, i just want a deep growl and tone.

it should sound pretty good man. I had a Magnaflow exhuast, stock setup on a 92 Prelude and it sounded good, no raspy fart cannon type deal. My 00 Maxima has a Aerospeed exhaust on it, stock setup and it's kind of raspy 1-3 rpms but after it's pretty deep... but this is a Aerospeed exhaust and havent heard of it before (some gahy off brand?) Anyhow, I'm going to get my magnaflow exhaust installed on in a few days and if you want to wait... I'll post a clip the sound and see what you think. I personally know it will sound good even though I dont think people know how good magnaflow exhausts are

i dont think it will sound raspy.. my 6th gen friend has magnflows on his stock exhaust, and it sounds great.. especially with the intake.. no rasp, and not noticeable at low rpms

Check the 5th gen exhaust thread and youtube, but even still they don't really give you that accurate of a sound replica...It's gonna be noisy either way tho.

Could have asked one of us tee. It depends on what muffler you go with, but with a reasonably sized magnaflow on your full stock exhaust it won't be any louder than Darren's. His is mild with a 40 series flowmaster, a magnaflow should be even quieter than that.

Should sound nice and not too loud. Being that you will be welding to the stock axle back , I'd go with a 18" magnaflow muffer instead of the usual 14" to cut down on dBs and droan.

i have magnaflow.

I have a magnaflow muffler on my 2000 SE, but not on a stock exhaust set-up;

this is what i have:

AEM CAi
cattman Headers
Y-pipe
High Flow Cat
RESONATOR DELETE ( DONT DO THISS.. WAYY TOO LOUD WITH HEADERS)
2.5" Custom Piping
with a magnaflow SS straight through muffler / SSblack tip

i am getting a resonator put on soon, b/c its just way too loud for my taste.

What do u guys think i should go with.. the expensive magnaflow resonator route.. or the cheap glasspack idea.

Any suggestions?

^ Go with a cheap glasspack, it's just as good.

To the OP, the Magnaflow will sound great. I have 1 on my 5.5 gen, with just a CAI, and it sounds amazing. Deep tone and a nice growl.

I have a lot of experience with Magnaflow and always recommend it to my friends who do custom exhausts. Just installed 2 last week on a 07 Si and an 05 Spec-V.

In your situation, you should not have a raspy sound due to factory cats and resonator. It will increase sound slightly.

The cheap glasspack will save in the short run, but you'll need to replace it in anywhere from 6 months to a year once it's worn out. The magnaflows are known to last years.

Here you go. This is off of Magnaflow website...
It's an 07 350z though.... but it should have about the same tone with both being v6...

i had magnaflow on my 3rd gen. it was strait through tho. and also was 2.5 full exhaust with no cat.

it was very loud at idle. as in just a drone type noise. but in high rpm it sounded greatttttt.

on the 5.5 its a flowmaster . which is chambered. and i have no main cat. that made a hugeee diff

TEE u have cats??? lol if u do it wont be to loud.

Go magnaflow. Glasspacks are cheap for a reason, and that's because they wear out. I'm getting a custom magnaflow exhaust built either sometime this week or on saturday.. i have headers, y-pipe, a 30" magnaflow resonator, and an 18" magnaflow muffler with 3" piping all the way through.. i'll let you know how it sounds

Oh is that so. Two people with the same name, same IP addresses, same email, same age. Oh and same 92 Prelude isn't David Houk? Where's my money. I will provide all my evidence to my local police department as well as yours if you have not sent my money via paypal by the end of your pay period at the Distribution Center.

I just want my $30 back or a working honda Prelude knock sensor that I paid for back in October. I'm not causing any trouble. This is ridiculous that I have to chase you here.

I cut the pipe off after the mid-pipe and left the muffler. Sounds mean and aggressive.

My friend has a 2k2 max with the stock pipeing and a magnaflow street series muffler. You can hear outside the car but you cant inside at all. Its a real clean sound too, just like the 350Z. If thats the sound you are looking for then there is no better way. I have a Magnaflow with custom pipeing and its Fing loude. I wake up my roommate every morning I start the car. It also has a real bad drone, so I ordered the Megan OE-RS for my car just the other day.

First, many thanks to all who contribute to this Forum. I'm in Toronto Canada, and have a 2000 GLE and need a Magnaflow muffler and a stainless y-pipe...either Cattman, or as good a brand. I'm having an unbelievable hard time finding these items online. Can u guys suggest a US or Canadian dealer pls?

You should sign up on torontomaxima.com

Budget exhaust in Burlington can make you a y-pipe, as well as get you a Magnaflow muffler. Many other local exhaust shops carry Magnaflow as well.
