burned out Xenon '02 SE headlight

I'm looking to replace a headlight, and I assume that the dealership will ream me. I just want OEM or something similar.

1. Do I need to replace both side so they will match?

2. Can someone recommend a brand (if similar to OEM and cheaper) or place to buy?

3. Is it easy to replace it myself?

- I know this sounds like info that is easy to search for, but I have been unable to find it (I assume HID is something different altogether, as much is written about them).

go to G/D section any of the HID kit deals and ask for 35W D2R bulbs, in 4300k, should be like $50 or something like that shipped. changing the headlight bulbs is as easy as changing a bulb in a house lamp

btw, DONT touch the glass of the bulb.

Do you need to replace a headlight, or a bulb?

It's probably just the bulb, maybe even the ballast. I doubt its the actual headlight. If it's the bulb, all you need is 1 4300K D2R bulb and your set.

I think it'd be better to buy a pair and have them match.

Your right. So I change my previous statement. Buy 2 D2R bulbs at stock 4300K temperature and your set.

Buy them online though. When I bought my max I got home and realized that drivers side headlight was out ( along with all but one of the marker lights) I shopped around and some places wouldnt even carry them and the cheapest I found was $150 for one. Luckily, I *****ed enough and I had them all replaced for free...long live the internet

before you got out and shop for a bulb, make sure it's the bulb first. Swap the bulb and see if that one side still works. If it's the bulb, you can get cheap OEM bulbs off ebay

how did it pass safety? don't you guys require safety inspection when buying/selling a vehicle in your state?

To the OP: if you go with one of the vendors that sell aftermarket bulbs, you probably won't get the same quality as the OEM bulbs. Aftermarket D2R bulbs (even 4300k) have a little more color, but their visibility is poorer and the cutoff is unclear as compared to OEM bulbs. This is coming from my experience of trying 3 different pairs of aftermarket D2R 4300k bulbs. I ended up going with a pair of OEMs off of ebay for like $110 for the pair.

Thanks for all the good feed back! I was dreading a "just do a search newbie" response.
I just need the bulb. OEM sounds good to me.

I can't find any OEM on Ebay (One says EOM, but sounds like its not as it is 6000k D2R)item # 150323509521

Any thought on finding a true pair of EOM Xenon bulb replacement?

I'm assuming by "EOM" you mean OEM? Do a ebay search for "Phillips D2R." Those are our stock bulbs. They do have some phillips bulbs that are supposed to not colorshift, meaning they will stay the color they are when you put them in (halogen yellow) instead of shifting to blue over time. It depends on what your color preference is.

I think I've got it now

Is $88 for 2 OEM xenon shipped about right?

Part #85126

DR2, 4300k, 35W

It says for Nissan but doesn't specify the model.

Thanks

Not sure on that auction, others would know better than me. I'd probably pick up a cheap set from the GB section and install them until you can find a good deal on OEM bulbs. Then when you do keep the others around for spares so you aren't forced into this situation again.

weird. I got my genuine 85122+ D2S bulb pair for around $50 I believe, and 85126 D2R bulbs may be cheaper or the same on e-bay depending on the seller. They were slightly used(less than 100 hours).I prefer OEM products due to the higher quality that the UV ptotective glass layer is.
