Failed Fuel Door Actuator?

Anyone ever replace one of these or have them fail? The fuel door got stuck and after getting it open I cannot determine if the fuel door actuator has packed it in or not. I checked the hinges and spring and they are ok.

Can anyone tell me when they hit the fuel door release button does the white plastic latch actually move/twist to release the door? When I push the fuel door release button I hear a click, but nothing appears to be moving in the latch, release assembly? I push the relase button 3-4 times and then the clicking stops...like it only works for 3-4 times? Dead Actuator?

Thanks for any help.

No one can go out to their car and see if the white latch mechanism moves when they push the release button?

I'm parked in a ramp and I'm at work so I can't go check. Also, how can you check if it moves if your hand is on the driver's door. My arms aren't that long. If no one responds by tonight, I'll let you know.

Have you tried searching?

I did search...but the fuel door doesn't stick-it opens freely and closes, the actuator is not popping it open though. I need to know if/how that actuator (white hinge piece moves freely or not) to determine if I need mine replaced. Seems like a simple swap but Courtesy wants $100 for the actuator and I'd rather not spend that if its not bad.

Thanks for any help!

Yes. When you push the button the white thing jets into the body of the car.

You can open it from the trunk by pulling out the carpet panel and getting to it from inside. It's not a "release button" but it can be opened.

the plastic tab goes into the actuator body assembly as mentioned above. Have someone press the release button on door while you look at the plastic tab with fuel door open, if it hasitates to go in, the solenoid might be dying and in need of replacement. Mine is currently shot on my max and I have to use my keys to open the fuel door which sucks, waiting till i get another one to replace mine.
