Would you say that when racing on the streets, a manual maxima has an advantage over an automatic maxima? Or does it more highly depend on the driver?

Generally, the manual Maxima will be faster. But, if the driver does not know how to shift the manual for optimum performance, it negates the advantage. There is much less power loss through the drivetrain for a manual transmission, so it puts down more power than an automatic. But, driver skill is definitely a factor.

Get the VB recal and a high stall torque converter and you'll give a manual a nice run for his/her money.

Uhhmmmmm! I thought that a 5 sp was cheaper... sooooo... you really can't say "you'll give a manual a nice run for his money" since automatics cost more....

Anyways..... people should not really say that it depends on the driver.... That's like saying "The only way an auto will smoke a 5 sp is if the 5sp driver CHOKES!!! "

Sooooo... if we assume that we have two drivers with identical (average) driving skills.... and they both race... the one with the 5sp will always win... Yes?...

For the 5spd to lose to the auto it would take a fairly bad 5spd driver. All the 5spd driver has to do is run to red-line and make his/her shifts to beat the auto. There is a big difference between the two.

zzNAMJAzz ...... what planet have you been living on?? no offense but it's commom knowledge that manuals are much better for racing ( you can conveniently and quickly downshift, better acceleration, etc ..) imo, it's a waste of money to trade for a stick now b/c it'll cost you a load. enjoy your car. I was thinking of getting a gti vr6 or si before i decided on the max. he max is auto unfortunately b/c my mom doesn't know how to drive stick. o well. PEAACCEEE
