Gas tank fill-up ?

Ok so i had barely no gas in the car. When i went to start it, it actually hesitated but got to the gas station. When i got there it clicked at 65.3xx Litres .. but i tried again and stopped at 65.496 Litres. I never really paid attention to this before, but i thought the maxima's gas tank was 70 Litres?

And as i said before, im pretty sure there was barely any gas in it to begin with.

ps: I got 470KM to the tank this time around, and i drove in the "higher RPM band" almost all the time in this tank. Also made little 3km round trips every morning when the car doesnt even have a chance to warm up yet. So 470km seems right for the tank being quite empty.

And also, gas light had been on for 50km

It is a 70L tank, maybe the hesitation was in your head? You were probably paranoid about making it to the gas station or something.

Are you on torontomaxima.com? You're close enough but I've never seen your car around on the boards.

Do a google on gasoline warming and the scam the gas stations pull.
All fuel starge tanks come supplied with heating elements (to be used in cold weather environments) well gas stations all over the world have discovered that if those heating elelments remain on all year. the gas at just 1 or 2 degrees warmer actually expands enough to trich the pump which is (calibrated, governed and checked by the weights and means dept.) into think more fuel passed thru the pump than actually did.
yes it only equals a few more cents (depending on the price of gas) per gallon to you but in the big picture the owner of the gas station is skimming the till to the tune of millions a year. Not only that the heated gasoline you just purchased will not go as far as non heated gasoline will.

next time your at that station take a look at the weights and means calibration and inspection sticker on that pump.
see when it was last calibrated.
