Back from my trek across the US

Flew to NJ and drove over 1000 miles back to Iowa. LOVE my car. 2000 SE 5-spd, grey luster with the black leather.

Absolutely flew through Pennsylvania. Driving 100 miles an hour at night through the Poconos is a blast.

Didn't get to race anyone. I played with a few cars. Some guy in a civic, not sure what type, pulled up and wanted to race, but I looked over at his car and he had huge flames all, and I mean, all over. By the time I stopped laughing he turned off.

I am now officially a part of the 5th gen crowd.

Congratulations on the Max! 5-speed Max's are a blast to drive. I have a Sterling Mist 2K1 SE 5-speed with black leather so I understand how you feel.

Did you get the Bose or sunroof?

I couldn't find a 5-spd anywhere in the midwest. And I mean anywhere. Chicago, no. Kansas City, nope. St. Louis, nada. I finally got tired of the dealerships telling me that they would look for one at the next dealer auction.

Both, I think. I've got the sunroof and it says Bose on the stereo, but to be honest, the stereo is lacking. The controls suck and there isn't any pause button for the CD player.

Very interesting. I read that only 5% of Maxima production has the 5-speed. Now for your first mod, try Mobil 1 synthetic oil. I put it in today and the engine runs so smooth. I plan on adding synthetic manual transmission fluid real soon before cold weather sets in.

Turn the power off or switch sources. That pauses it.

BTW, congrats on your new purchase. Was that the first time you saw the car and then bought it on the spot?

Yeah, I guess that will work. Just seems odd they couldn't put a pause button on there.

I had seen pictures of it and did a carfax check on it, but it was the first time I saw in person. I bought it from a .org member so I felt pretty sure the car would be in excellent condition. And it was.
