Rumbling sound from heater

The heater on my 00 Max makes a rumbling sound when I turn the blower on to heat the car. It's only with the heater, not the ac, and it's only when the blower is on 2, 3 and 4. It sounds like it's coming from under the dash right in front of the glove box. Anyone have any ideas? The blower/heater works fine, it's just that intemittent sound.

blower motor acting gay. Dont worry, a lot of us are plagued by the same sound lately. I'm pretty sure it will go away once the weather gets better.

Yeah it will because I won't be using the heater then it'll be fine. It happens every winter.

Mine makes an annoying noise whether I'm using the heater or a/c. If's it's only the heater for you, then you are lucky. Just ordered a new blower motor assembly on ebay yesterday...

its not the blower motor, its the squirell cage within the blower. either way you will have to replace the blower assembely.

I'M HAVING THIS ANNOYING *** PROBELM TOO! Only thing is that mine does it when I'm at 1 or 2 and on both AC and heater AND only when I'm going like 30mph and below. HATE IT!

It's actually not, like 5 or 6 screws for the glovebox, then like 4 more for the blower thing. Then pop it out. It's all right there in plain sight once you pop off the glovebox. I had leaves in mine and that kinda helped when I took them out but every now and then still does it. I found nothing physically wrong with it. KILLS ME!

Yeah, mine is worse than ever this year. I've pulled it apart countless times, and that dang noise always comes back. My sister's maxima does the same thing...

it's beyond frustrating.

It's probably the blower motor. Buy the one on Ebay that offers a lifetime warrenty. About $50.

It doesn't hurt to check if something is in there causing the noise. Cleaning out leaves, paper and such could be an easy fix.

I had the same problem. I just pulled the panel off and removed the blower motor and fan (3 screws). There were leaves and a piece of foam in there. I took them out and problem solved. Check that before you order a new motor

Leaves I understand. Where did foam come from??

Hey, it could be M&Ms that were dropped down the defrost vent (aka Tommy Boy)

But at least they had the hard candy shell to keep them from melting.

mine had pine needles and leaves took them out and it got better, then took it out again and used some spray white lithium grease inside where the brushes are seemed to help 6 months so far no noise.
