tranny issue...i think

ok i have a 2k2 6spd max...does anyone else have a hard time putting the car in reverse..i mean the tranny shifts fine 1 threw 6 ..but i have to really pull back on the shifter to get it in reverse sometimes even let my clutch out then try it again...i dont get it..i just added a twm short throw and es bushings and its even harder..the issue was there before the sts and bushings...just wondering if anyone else has this issue

I'm not sure but I think that our 2k2 6sp will not work well with a short shifter. I've read a bunch of posts about people trying it and then ruining their tranny, but I've never tried it. If i'm at a dead stop then reverse works fine usually. Rarely I will have to release the clutch and try again. Since theres no crunch I never really worry about it.........If a short shifter works then I'm very interested.

There's a little button that looks like a mountain with a sun over it.. Press that button and enter the url for the pic

Try putting your car in first and inching forward then going into reverse... worked on my subaru

Mine is also hard to put in R, I'm going to switch to Redline MT-90 soon. I hope that fixes it

i read a post puppetmaster wrote a long time ago about a 10mm nut that holds the bushing in place. He said that sometimes people might make it to tight and can make for stiff/hard shifts....maybe thats what made it worse??

Hey, I,m a new member and a new maxima owner also. I gotta say I have read some stuff about these things that is making me wonder if it is the kick a-- car I thought. I am having a problem too, Gotta oil leak on passenger side. I,m trying to verify if it is my oil cooler. Leaks around that area and drips onto the control arm. It is coming out fairly quick and migrating all in that area, IS there any other things I should consider. I,m hauling three kids round so I have got to get it fixed soon, and not at no damn dealership. thanks maxman7

huh????? idk man i havent heard anything on here..maybe a leaking oil line..put it up on jackstands(if a dealership is outta the question) and whipe everything off as good as you can..and since you said its coming out faily quick start it up and just look to see if you can spot your leak..ive done that hundreds of times on previous cars...but i have to say man dont let this little leak change your mind on maximas there really r a f*cking awesome ride...just go get dirty..and 2DAMAX..ok see i did tighten it down fairly tight that may be my issue..when i was reinstalling it after the es bushing i was thinking to my self wow this seems to be threading in alot more than when i took it off..i look into it ..thanks bro

I got it from a shop in charlotte, but heres their site http://www.redlineoil.com/products_g...7&categoryID=7
You can order it from there or find a shop that carries it near by. For the 5.5gen 6MT you need 2.5qts

Heres the How-to http://www.shiftice.com/redline_mt90.html
