Rear Bumper Grommet?
Rear Bumper Grommet?
OK, I previously posted about being rear ended and the saga continues. I washed my max on Saturday and noticed that the bumper skin behind the passenger wheel was loose. There are 2 screws that keep the bottom of the skin attached to the sheet metal. One of the screws was missing(thank's for nothing repair shop). It's a 10 MM screw that seats into a nylon/plastic grommet. Similar to the way a license plate mounts. I found it online and called local dealer and they don't have any in stock. All I can find locally are ones that don't sit flush with the sheet metal.
My worries are if there is a gap between the skin and the sheet metal due to the different style grommet, dirt and water will get into it and possibly cause rust, noise, paint to peel, etc.
Has anyone had to replace this or do you think I should be concerned with using a grommet that doesnt' sit flush?

Try another Nissan dealer, I had my bumper re-painted when I first got my car and the shop broke one. I simply went to my Nissan dealer, (I was there to buy new carpets) and asked the parts guy how much they cost and he gave me 3 of them for free.
