It is the 'Daytime light control unit' on the diagram. To remove it for repair, you have to remove the coolant container as well. Once you have disconnected the 3 connectors connecting to the 'Daytime light control unit', you can carefully force open (use a few small screwdrivers to help) the box cover to get to the circuit board. I even slightly broke the cover (but that's no big deal for me - can always seal it with electrical tapes!). There are two bolts holding the DLC unit and two bolts holding the Coolant container to the body. Good luck!

No need to remove the overflow bottle bracket, it'll slip right out. Just pull the bottle up and away from the fender.

what you said may be right for the 4th gens, but on my 2000 - 5th gen max, the overflow bottle and bracket is one piece and cannot be slide out as you said!

Wish you had posted this earlier, I could have saved weeks in troubleshooting!

To start, have you done any diagnostics so far? Verified a good bulb, checked fuses, power and ground (under load, not just a static measurement) at the bulb itself?

If no ground at the headlight while the lights are on (pin 2, G/Y), make sure the combination switch is working properly; you should be showing a ground at pin 7 (G/Y) on the combination switch harness. If so, it's a wiring problem between the two.

If not, verify a good ground at pin 5, then jumper pins 5 to 7 to bypass the switch. If it works, then it's a bad switch.

DRL module

You guys are AWESOME!!!
Seriously, I've been having issues with my headlights for the last TWELVE YEARS!! Lost the pax side high beam first, then pax side low beam a few years latter, then lost DRL pax side. jury rigged a ground to get a pax side light back on to stay legal....it was the high beam (sorry to all those bliinded for all those years). Finally lost all lights except drivers side high beam.
Looked for the answer on this forum (see above) and ....VOILA!!!
Went to Pick n Pull today. Pulled DRL modual from an '01, plugged it in. ALL issues resolved. Good thing you guys aren't close by...otherwise there would be big splotchy kisses for all of you. Now I can get back to enjoying my Maxima for the 16th straight year.
Thanks fellas!!
