For my taillights I used pactra spary tint from the hobby shop on the corner.
any hobby shop has it also michaels or toys r us in th emodel section.
If you want to use nightshades you can try schucks or gi joes.

+1 brand name is "VHT nightshades", for best results be sure to apply a coat of "clear adhesion promoter" and carefully spray on the the nightshades paint in layers as it is quit runny (not as thick as regular spray paint) let it dry between coats until you achieve the smoked look you desire.

Has anyone actually bought the light smoked tint overlay for the headlights/foglights? I was thinking of trying it out, but wanted to know if there was anyone that has done it before or has pictures.

Nightshades is the way to go. Make sure you sand the lights before you spray, spray as many coats as you want, wet sand, and then you can clear coat it to give it a nice shine. I had my tails and sidemarkers done this way and they came out great. Dont spray in the cold and make sure you let the coats dry before you spray the next one.

i used the pactra also. Scuffed the side markers with a green brillo type pad and then cleaned with some dish soap to get the junk off. Then spay the lights until your satisfied. then i used clear coat to finish and let dry for 24 hrs. Also i noticed that what looked tinted whe n i was done looked a bit darker installed. I was also told at the hobby store that hobbiest like the pactra better as it doesnt crack on then when the bang the body of the RC. He said the testors wasnt as forgiving.

Why are they in the oven? The spray tint (title of this thread) goes on the outside of the side markers???

hahahah im suchhh a noob
well there was like mud on the inside of the right front so i figured id clean it before i sprayed it. what i think happened is that the previous owner already seperated them and sealed them up with something with a heat protectant. so when i tried bakeing and sperateing, it did nothing for loosening the silicone.
so now i can either buy a lense or jus buy a pair off ebay
me = no luck with cars

the the OP: that sucks about cracking the lense,.. only the headlights can bake.. and just so you know the taillights are just like the markers.. cant bake em...

sorry if this is thread jacking but i didnt want a new one for this... to the OP and others that have spray tinted,.. would it be possible to achieve a very light slightly noticable tint on plastics(lights/markers)example: like 50% or lighter tint,.. basically so that its just not clear or will it get dark like 35% to 20% tint,.... since i have a light colored car i want a slight smoke but nothing dark... thanks

those are the ones I got. had to use weather stripping because of the loose fit they rattled like crazy in the rear with any bass from the trunk but a 5 dollar fix and they are all good.

I hope they arent too dark, but if they are then there will be a "FS: smoked F&R side marker" thread in the classifieds very soon
