If your exhaust smells there's probably something else wrong.

You will have to run O2 sims if you eliminate the precats by installing headers to pass emission testing.

I don't see a cat. in that pic, oh wait, thats because there is none, therefore you 'll need sims as mentioned above.

what cat is needed to be changed to eliminate a p0430 code, pricing and where to get a reasonable priced one would be helpful

You should replace both downstream O2 sensors and have the ECM updated before you buy a CAT.

Apparently, non-foulers work. I might just gut my precats and screw some non-foulers in and see how that works.

I passed inspection with a bottle of "Catalytic Converter" at pepboys. It turns cel off from a couple days to couple of weeks.

I squeaked by my inspection, replaced my rear bank 1 O2 and a couple days later my car popped a stoner code (P0420). Reset the computer and drove it around long enough to have 6 monitors ready, the only one not ready was the catalyst but you can have 1 not ready and still pass...and pass I did. Just for fun, I checked after lunch (about an hour after I passed my inspection) to see if all were ready yet-showed 1 not ready (catalyst) and a pending P0420 code.

Next day the SES light came on for the P0420, reset it and a week later it popped up again. Now it is a few days later, all monitors ready and no codes. Ugh.

Oh boy...I think I am going to rip off those crap cats and just go with a header and a decent hi flow cat. Good justification for the purchase don't you think? Wheezy needs more power anyways- some lady in a G6 pontiac wouldn't let me pass her getting on the freeway...I had to acknowledge defeat.

I have the p0430 code right now, and apperently its the Bank 2 Downstream sensor thats faulty. I was thinkin of just replacing all the damn o2s sensors and then clearing the SES light and taking it from there. I am also gettin really ****ty gas mileage...20 bucks lasts me 2 days with only driving 130 miles, its ridiculous.

If your mileage has taken a huge dump, odds are it is the pre-cat and not the O2. All the rear O2 does is monitor the pre-cat function.

The FSM lists the following possible causes for P0420/0430 codes:

1. Warm up three way catalyst
2. Exhaust tube
3. Intake air leaks
4. Injectors
5. Injector leaks
6. Spark plugs
7. Improper ignition timing

Improper ignition timing would definitely affect your mileage, so would bad plugs, in addition to a clogged cat.
