Can't seem to find stage 2 clutch for 5.5 gen
Can't seem to find stage 2 clutch for 5.5 gen
My clutch is really close to gone but I want to take the opportunity to not only replace but upgrade. I will be installing the fidanza flywheel at the same time. I will eventually be adding a few HP in the form of CAI, headers, y-pipe, exhaust, high-flow cat, and tune.
I was looking at the exedy stage 1 but I'm a little worried it might not hold up to the added HP? I don't want to go stage 3 either i feel that would be overkill.
My problem is that I can't seem to find a stage 2 for the 5.5 gen i've seen plenty for the pre 5.5 Are there any out there for the 5.5 gen? Is it even necessary or will the stage 1 hold up just fine?

you shouldn't run to into problems with a stage 1, the mods you listed don't create enough hp to worry about anything breaking. now if you were running a turbo or something then id say yea move to a stage 2.
i'm using the exedy stage one with 253 at the wheels, no problem
But if you really want a stage 2, exedy makes a stage 2 as well,
Exedy Stage 2 Cerametallic Clutch Kit
Part Number: 06952A
And dont forget you can use a clutch made for a G or a Z as well. Check the ratings though, the Maxima stage 1 is rated with higher numbers than the Z stage 1 exedy. Thought that was kind of weird.
Centerforce makes up to stage 5 as well

He owns a 6-speed.
+1 for the 350ZHR clutch. I've had mine in for over two years with no problems and I already have all the mods you're planning. I'm rough on the car too. I've done a good bit of racing at the local strip with sticky drag radials and HLSD.
The good thing about the Nissan part is that there is no question about the quality. I had a stage 3 clutch from Clutchmaster that wasn't properly balanced and shook the whole car. I had to pull it, have it balanced then reinstall it.
The stage 3 I had was just too stiff to drive comfortably. I changed it long before it ever started slipping because I hated driving it. It would bark the tires going into 4th gear right up till the day I took it out.
The thing about these cars is that the tires will spin before enough force is applied to the clutch. Even with drag radials, HLSD and a sticky track the tires will spin. You could put a stage 6 clutch in there and the car wouldn't be any faster. The 350ZHR clutch is designed to hold up in a car with more power, more traction and more weight (G35 coupe) than a Maxima with boltons.

Call him up, you might still be able to get these prices, or he might have better prices for you now.

Well I bought the Exedy Stage 1 and Fidanza Flywheel on Ebay yesterday and they should be on the way soon. I will be doing the work myself, I have access to a lift and a transmission jack so it shouldn't be too bad. I have never done a clutch before but i'll have some help from a friend that has. Any advice or anything I should know before I start the work? I want to get it done in one bite as I will be using a friends shop bay so anything that I should know to save uneccesarry trips to the parts/tool store? I will be having onother friend video record the process to post and hopefully help others to visually see how its done.
