So i did a search and didnt come up with much and i was wondering if anyone could tell me what things i should be doing for a 100,000 mile tune up? Im at 99,750 miles at the moment ...i changed the oil less than 2,000 miles ago (mobil 1 full synthetic), changed all the spark plugs at 87,000 miles, and have been running 93 octane in it since i got it (at 86,500 miles). As usual your help is greatly appreciated.
Maxdriver10,
I looked in my handy dandy 03 svc & maint guide. If you've been doing your regular maintenance items every couple thousand miles. The guide calls for you to change the oil and filter and do the premium maintenance and the schedule 1 maintenance list. The schedule 1 list consists of: replacing the in-cabin filter, spark plugs and tire rotation.
It also says to inspect the trans fluid, axle and suspension parts, all brake components, cruise control system, drive shaft boots, belts, exhaust system, ball joints, manual trans fluid, steering gear and linkage. Btw, the mileage to do this according to the guide is at 101,250 miles.
Bottom line, give the car a thorough inspection under the hood and under the car. Treat it as if you were looking to it over as a car you wanted to buy.

thanks...I have been keeing up with the maintenance....just not sure about the original owner....the car was in good condition when i bought it and besides a bad starter nothing major has gone wrong (well at the moment its in the shop cause it failed emissions and is getting checked out)...thanks for the reply...I'll give the guides a look over once i get my baby back tomorrow afternoon
At about 125k now...
Since about 60k it's been the same
Oil Change every 7500mi
Seafoam
Chevron Techron
AutoRx
Annually
Full detergent run through cooling system
Change tranny fluid (overkill, but whatev)
Aside from that everything has been a-ok (knocks on wood). The only thing to go wrong was the starter, but I might have done so prematurley. I also had to replace almost the entire exhaust throughout ownership due to rust, and just changed the shifter bushing (HIGHLY recommended). Normal ish as well (brakes, tires, belts), but whatever, that's coming with any car
This summer I will be:
Clutch replacement
Front suspension bushing changeout
VIAS inspection / repair
Throttle body clean
Rear seal PM
I intend on hitting the 250k mark so long as I don't run in to an IACV failure, BUUUUT, I'm hoping that never happens. She still runs strong, and knowing what I know now, I would have gotten the same car.

check your inner tierods and lower ball joints, i know mine arent doing well. both joints and both tierods are in need of replacement, which leads me to expect it to be a mileage thing
Is you ride quality suffering? Cause my max seems to he taking bumps a little "rougher" than normal...although I would hardly say it was ever "smooth" haha but I expected that
100K Miles
I am currently at 99,585 miles.
The only parts that were replaced were drive belts. MAF, one front rotor and axel boots.
Besides regular maintenance like synthetic oil changes, tires, air filters, in cabin filter, wipers, coolant flush, one brake pad replacement, one battery, one windshield, one headlight element, and the b pipe connector rusting through, the 2K max was relatively trouble free.
At this point, I am only concerned with the alternator life.
What kind of mileage can I expect?
I have the HD alternator that came with the cold weather package and upgraded electrical accessories (heated seats, mirrors, rear defroster, auto climate control, Bose w/sub, power passenger seat, fog lights). I hope it last another 50K because thats when I plan to trade her in for a new max.
The car still rides surprisingly tight and rattle free. I drive domestic cars at work and at less than 10,000 miles, and they don't hold up and ride as good as the Nissan.

I'm at ~ 99,925.....I'll be hitting the 100k this week. My only plans really are to replace the belts, maybe PCV valve.....i went through the whole list in the maintenance manual and everything else has already been taken care of in the last 15k or so.
so the dumbf***s at the garage its at decided that they all of a sudden need it another day despite assuring me it was "a one day job"....they said they think its a cat but that may or may not fix the problem....i wonder what im paying them for?
I'm at 99,400 and he pulls stronger than ever......you will get that if you take care of her. I sold my old 89 bad weather Max to a co worker with 204,000, now it has 215,000 and still runs like a champ on the original motor!

lol so i was a little harsh on the mechanics....they got me an OE Nissan Cat (yes its OE i crawled under the car and checked myself) and installed it for $494.74....will be turning 100,000 this weekend now that i have her back in action!!!
100,000 Maintenance
Went over 100,000 miles this past weekend!
To celebrate, I changed the oil and filter( Mobil 1), air filter and spark plugs.
The electrodes on the plugs were worn down to nubs. Replaced with standard OE plugs.
Changing them out weren't as hard as I perceived. It took me an hour to swap them out. I guess that I should have changed them earlier, but Nissan says their good for 100K.
Gone is that slight hesitation starting out in first gear.
Looking to see how much of an increase in MPG there is.
I used to get around 25-27 combined. Last I calculated it was down to around 22-23 MPG using Mobil oxygenated 91 octane.
