Rear Brakes

Today my brakes started grinding and it surprised me cause I just had them done last year. I pull over and its the drivers side rear that is down to the metal, but the passenger side rear still has tons of pad left as well as both fronts. I see that my drivers side rear rotor is all scored. What could have caused this. I am thinking maybe a bad caliper....

yes bad caliper,,that happened to me too on my rear brake and had to replace the caliper ,,also replaced both pads for a balanced wear,,replace the rotors too,,,that way it will be an even brake wear..

Yup....most likely caliper. You could try greasing the slide pins with caliper grease, etc. but most likely that would be a temporary fix. Also, check to make sure its not just the parking brake mechanism on the caliper. That can get stuck sometimes. Spray some WD-40 on it and work it back and forth a bit.

My drivers side seems odd too in the rear. Is this a common thing for the Maxima's?

Abnormal inner pad wear = caliper
Abnormal outer pad wear = hardware
Also make sure the **** on the caliper piston lines up with the groove on the inner pad, otherwise you will get tapered/abnormal pad wear.

Yeah I figured it was the caliper. I never felt any drag on the car and no burning smell so I didn't know I had a problem. Looking at my rotor it looks like its gonna need to be replaced or hopefully they can cut it.
