Security key lockout...

Today for the first time my car didn’t start at the cause of the security code key… I’m just wondering if this has happen to any of you guys. The blue chip that’s in my key seem somewhat lose and I just pushed it back into the socket where it belongs so I’m not sure if this may have been the cause of the problem.

I have one of those keys that I now use as a spare. The blue chip was not really secured in there and I could slide it out with ease (locksmith told me those are clones). However, I never had a problem like that with that key. If you don't have one yet, it is strongly recommended that you invest $50 bucks or so and get another key cut and programmed at a locksmith.

The transponder on the ignition switch can and will fail after a while. When it goes, it wont read the signal from the key.

or you can do what the previous owner of my car did.

he placed a chip in the steering column but there's a secret way you activate it (for a remote start) so if you know how it works you can get the car to start with a metal spare or the remote.

had a problem before with a key chip giving up all of a sudden. Had to have the car towed to the dealership to have keys cut and reprogrammed as i didn't have a spare key.
