Caliper Question

Well over the weekend I replaced my rotors and pads on the front of my 2k Maxima cause of the crappy studdering braking.

The brake job went well and no problem considering I have done this 1000 times over....... but this time afterward the brakes work great but it feels like a sticky caliper.

What is the best way to test to see if a caliper is sticking?

Thanks

check for..

exessive heat after driving

uneven pad wear

jack the wheel up, and spin the wheel. It should spin somewhat freely. Compare it with the other front wheel.

Good luck.

By sticky, do you mean the vehicle pulls to one side upon braking?
If it does, the it's either the caliper hanging up or frozen guide pins. Make sure the pins are not seized and slide freely.

Then why does it feel like a "sticky" caliper?

Oh ok LOL

Please note that periodic brake noise is normal. Avoid panic stops during the the next 200 miles. Excessive heating or hard use when new may cause brake pad glazing, preventing proper brake-in.

pad springs

This might be off the wall but I have been trying to find a photo or any thing that shows how to install the pad spings on a 1986 maxima rear calipers. Can you help? I have them on my 1970 240z.

Thanks

You'll be resurfacing them within another 2 or 3 months! Those itty bitty 11.0" rotors are warpers by nature!
