My test drives in the 6-spd

Okay, I went and took a test drive in a Sterling Mist SE 6-spd Friday evening on my way home from work. Then I went to another dealership on Saturday and took another test drive in a Black SE. On the Saturday drive I went with a buddy of mine, and along with the sales guy, the three of us went a beat the crap out of it for about 10-15 minutes each.

I just went back and re-read some of the threads regarding VLSD, HLSD, or no LSD. And I'm still a bit puzzled. What I noticed as both a passenger and driver was that there was no noticeable torque steer under full throttle acceleration. Even through sweeping turns such as freeway onramps. Is a Limited Slip Dif really supposed to reduce (eliminate?) torque steer?

I ask because apparently the Canadian SE's w/ MT are supposedly equipped with VSLD. I would not have been surprised if the Canadian cars were equipped differently than US cars. But the test drive I took left me with the impression that even the US cars may have VLSD.

Case in point. My friend drove the same route as I did when it was his turn. At one intersection I left 2 equal length skid marks which I was able to see when we returned to that location. Then on the freeway onramp I left 2 skidmarks that began and ended side-by-side.

Anyone care to comment?

lsd differentials reduce torque steer. your description of your drive is very typical of lsd behavior.

I drove a non-VLSD 6-speed and didn't knotice much of any significat torque steer... of course I think I was just hammering it in strait lines.
