After reading the thread, I cleaned up the revoln sensor w/ brake cleaner.
The tranny is smooth as butter... God damnnnn hope this thread was started when I had 100K on my tranny. With 165K on the tranny, it was time it needed cleaning.
Good exercise, don't need to take off splash gaurds etc. The sensor is quite obvious to access w/o having to remove the gaurds.

SmokinMax01, I've got a quick request for you. Can you cruise at 60, take the car out of OD, then put it back about 5 seconds later. My car usually jerks when shifting back into OD. I wanted to see if you feel a difference on that before and after replacing the revolution sensor.

Just got the Rev sensor from DaveB this morning, so I should have some free time to test it out later today.
I'll let you know how it goes.

Not sure what your problem may be, but I dont think it anything to do with the revolution sensor, unless you were having problems with the tranny like I was with it 'falling out of gear' on occassion.
Although, I must confess, after installing the new revolution sensor tonight, the tranny is smooth as silk and the overall performance of the car is world's apart from where it has been in the last 3-6 months.
The Max is back, lol.

Hey Max_Man,
Just wanted to inform you (and others) that I pulled out the Revolution Sensor and unplugged all other sensors/connectors going to the transmission this morning, and proceeded to clean them all with CRC Electric parts cleaner.
Let them all dry out, plugged everything back in, and WOW , what a difference!
The tranny shifts so smooth now and is much much more responsive, and seems to be struggling a lot less without having to do nearly as much work. I honestly couldnt believe the difference it made, just cleaning all the sensors going to the tranny.
Even after filling up my tank after cleaning the sensors, I put on 190+ miles over the course of the day and noticed a 25+ mile increase over what I normally average after just a half a tank of gas. All just due to not having to be on the gas as much and the A/T not working nearly as hard, especially when traveling up hills.
(usually get 160-170 after a half tank, but currently sitting at 198 after a half tank, with the needle right at the halfway point)
Now im not sure if you had thrown a code for the Rev Sensor (P0720), because I hadnt, but after spraying all the sensors going to the A/T, I was absolutely amazed by the difference it made. When going WOT, my max finally has that 'floating feeling' back when going a lil too fast , something I hadnt felt in probably over a year.
Now this is just a thought, but perhaps most of the 'transmission slips' and other problems people are having really are just do to corrosion (salt, dust, dirt, ect) and/or worn sensors/connections that just arent working like they used to (ie - not getting proper voltage), causing the tranny to heat up from working too hard? (B&M tranny cooler is on the way next)
Anyways, before spending $100+ on a new Rev sensor, try cleaning it and the other sensors connected to the tranny with some electric parts cleaner (brake cleaner works to I guess) and see if it makes as much of a difference as it did for my A/T. For $4 a can, its certainly worth a shot imo.

Just pull off driver side wheel and the 4 screws holding the plastic panel on, unplug the sensors (Rev sensor held on by 10mm), and sprayem down and let'em dry. Plug back in, and wala.
It was very easy to do too; took me about 30 minutes from start to finish.

I cleaned the trans connectors as described, but it made no difference. Here in Florida, we get nearly zero corrosion, unless you live on the beach where salt spray is a problem. It's still worth a shot though.

I have 2000 maxima SE with 112,000 and it has Auto tranny. Just got it 2 weeks ago and love the car (hate the problem). Unfortunately seems like there is a problem with tranny. Here what happen: when I take off with very slow acceleration I see that the RPM goes from about 750 to about 1500, once it riches 1500 it switches to second gear ( does it very smooth), right after the RPM drops to about 1,000 (which I assume normal) and slowly rises up again, once it gets to 1,500 rpm it suddenly jumps to 2,500 -3,000 rpm, and I can hear the engine rev but car doesn’t drive any faster, it stays on 2,500 -3,000 rpm for about 3 seconds and then switches to the next gear and drops RPM to about 1,000 and if I keep going same way in few seconds it will just normally switch to the fourth gear. To be able to get this I had to take off and drive very slow, barely touch the accelerator pedal, making about 15-20 MPH. If I take off little faster, push it to let say 2,000 RPM nothing is going to happen, it would just normally shift 1-2-3-4. I already have replaced MAF and TPS sensor on it.

My automatic 2000 SE hesitates on acceleration, between 3000-4000 RPM. It has a hard time shifting from 3rd to 4th unless I let up on the gas, then press down again. I mainly notice this on hills and freeway on ramps accelerating from 30-70 MPH quickly. I've taken it to transmission shops who said the auto trans is fine.
In doing research I found that there is a problem with a relay or electronic component that can cause these symptoms.
One shop thought it was catalytic converter related but an exhaust shop that does catalytics said that wasn't the problem.
I was told by independent shops to take it to a dealer to diagnose. What is the fix for it?

Unrealii, I tested it out tonight just like you asked, both before and after installing the new rev sensor, and felt no jerking whatsoever when I did this.
Not sure what your problem may be, but I dont think it anything to do with the revolution sensor, unless you were having problems with the tranny like I was with it 'falling out of gear' on occassion.

My 2001 GLE has 136000 miles and has been well maintained, including transmission service.
The transmission shifts well, and there are no issues . . . except
The other day while pulling into the garage, I gassed the car a little (actually I blipped the throttle - not a lot, but more than a little) to get over and into the garage, then immediately let off the gas. The car (transmission?) mad a loud bang noise.
Since then (6 days ago) no similar or any other issues. I am wondering if this might be an early warning of transmission problem, or if maybe the motor mount let the engine bang against something when I let off the gas?
BTW - the motor mounts (electric connection) are disconnected.

So I searched for the term "revolution sensor" just this morning and I found this thread. This is a thank you post to you guys for having the info I needed so I didn't needlessly spend $130 on a sensor from the dealer.
Just to clarify, I have a 6th gen and cleaning the contacts along with a spot of dialectric grease, took care of my problem. So for those who asked if it would work with a 6th gen, yes, it does.
