I've been a member a while, need advice on this 2k2

Hi all, I disappeared for more than a year now. I posted this on the last thread I started a few minutes ago. I had a 2k2 that I was working on a T25 build.

It's hard for me to type this let alone talk about it, but over a year ago, I was driving on I90 when a guy made a u-turn with his child in the car. I hit him at about 60mph. I woke up 3 weeks later. I was told I shouldn't be alive, that the only part of the car not destroyed was where I was sitting. I broke my left femur, both ankles, 5 ribs, and left collar bone. I got away lucky, his 6-year-old child did not. I have had to live with the fact that even though it wasn't my fault, and there was nothing I could do about it, I took the life of a child, so no, the build didn't happen.

I finally learned to live with myself a year later. I don't know if I still feel the same need to go fast. I saw what happens at 60mph. The Max saved my life, but took someone elses. I will buy another maxima, but I only started driving again a few months ago. We'll see what happens.

I don't really need to explain my absence but everyone here has been so helpful in the past and I felt like I knew some people on here. So now I'm getting back in the swing of things, and I need some advice on this car.

I spent a lot of my money on never-ending bottles of scotch (hence why I only have 10k for a car), but I am working again now. I really don't want sympathy, I've had that for the last year and a half. I would appreciate if we just left it at that.

Anyway, I talked to guy at the dealership and he said a person who knew more about Maxima's than anyone he's ever talked to owned that car. He didn't tell me what he bought, but if anyone thinks this is worth a look please let me know. It looks super clean as well, so maybe the owner was a .org member (hopefully). I figure a maxima fanatic, + a super clean car and the fact they said it's in near flawless shape and will give a 1 year bumper-to-bumber says loads about it.

Is Dave B. Still affiliated with the site? Hopefully he is so I can get a carfax. I just don't want to drive down there (I'm in Saratoga, NY) if it was in an accident.

Thanks for your help!

-Brian

the price is a little too high for a 138k mileage car ... even if it is a Maxima.

If your willing to drive down here, 03 Max Black on Black 6spd 105k for $7.7k. You can try haggling down to $7k or so.

the car looks extremely clean but on the other hand, i think its too many miles for that price.. i got my 02 for $7200 with 97k miles.. its auto though and it was one owner and clean carfax.. i'm sure you can find some other maxima's with better prices.. sorry to hear about the accident.. glad to hear you're slowly getting back on your feet

Thanks Krzy, I have to have a 6-speed. My friend sold me his old A4 for 1k to bomb around in for a while until I got my own car. Its worth about 3500, but but anyway I look at it if I sell it for a maxima (which I am going to) or trade it in, I'll be ahead. Even though I have cash, I have to get used to paying bills again. A car payment + insurance + rent etc will help me do this. I am willing to pay interest to learn how to be responsible again lol. I got some insurance money, but I couldn't bring myself to go after him personally. He lost enough already.

And don't forget, the the guy told me it comes with a 1 year full bumper-to-bumper, so thats gotta be worth something.

After looking for about a year, I know if you're patient you will find a better deal a month later. I've seen some 02 6mt with 60k fully loaded run for 75 tops around this area. However we don't run through that many 6mt though. If your area doesnt get alot of 6mt, then like stated above.. I'd try negotiating on it and let one thing lead to another.

He's asking $11,999 for it, but it has been up for sale for a little over a year now, so you might be able to talk him down to around 10k or so.

Good luck in your search man.
