What is the % of tint in maxima factory glass

What is the % of tint in maxima factory glass.

I want to tint my back to 35% (legal in mass to 35%)
A tint place told me

However, if you apply the tint, the percentage does multiply. For example, if the factory tint on the window is 35%, which let 35% visible light coming through, and you apply another 35% tint over it. The final tint shade will be 35% x 35% which comes out 12%, which means it only lets 12% light come through

Any thoughts on the maxima oem glass % level ?
The specs/sticker say "tinted" only

It's probably 50% from factory, maybe more. It will make it % you apply darker. I put 20% on and CMPD registered it at 11%. Of course I got the ticket. ha.

In new york, the front side and backside windows have to be 70% of outside lights come in, so i assume that the factory windows are 70%.

I had no idea that the car is tinted from the factory. Mine does not look like it if it was. It does make sense that if there is factory tint that an aftermarket tint film will decrease the visible light transmission percentage.

There is not "tint" on the glass from the factory. No glass is 100% clear. You will always have a little light impedance. It is probably about 93-97% (that number stands for the amount of light let threw the windows. Most police allow a slight variance (Va. for example is 7% in most cases).

The reason the sticker says "tinted" is because of that slight impedance I was talking about. Actually, Come to think of it, The Max may have a very slight solar tinting with it, kind of like the glasses that tint in the sun.

Personally, I would get them to meter the film straight out of the box. If it meters close to 35 then just do it. Make sure to get a receipt stating that they installed your states legal limit.

Deckdout2, That film you got probably metered lower than 20% before it was even on the glass. A few film companies do that for some reason. Most Suntek films meter lower than what the box of film says.

It's bull though because many SUVs and minivans are sold with tint on the rear side windows that looks more like 20% than 70%.

Any glass at all will decrease VLT when window film is applied.

The limit in NY applies to cars I believe, most states including Va have different laws for vans, trucks, suvs and wagons because they are considered multi purpose vehicles.

I was told by the place I got mine tinted that the factory glass lets 90% through (blocks 10%). They used a 45% on mine, so in theory I have a 0.45 x 0.90 = 40.5% now.

Different glass from different manufacturers have different shades. It is always around 10%
Yours will probably meter right around that 40% mark like you said.
