glad you asked this question, I'm also interested in knowing if there is a huge difference.

I accidently ordered H3 bulbs when I needed the shorter H3c bulbs...so now I have to bend the glare guard out of the way.

so im going to get a tint kit from ebay to get the yellow color and im prolly going to rermove the gaurds. if its not brite yellow enuff i will try some yellow bulbs. if all fails im going hunting for the capsuels. wish someone else would have posted in this thread. hidtech seemed to be too much of a hassle to track some down

Glare guards exist for the benefit of the other people on the road, by removing the guard you are taking chances with other peoples lives (the capsule helps), I made my own glare guards which don't reduce the light emitted but don't blind on-coming traffic. It's really not that hard.

i took mine off and replaced them with the lexus caps WITH stock bulbs. i don't recommend you taking them off and then putting hid's in there...you will blind oncoming traffic.

I don't have glare guards on my lexus capsule because I actually used 9005 capsules and they barely fit as it was. The glare guards protect other drivers from seeing the actually filment (or arc for the HID guys) directly which can give a bit of glare and can be pretty intense. When I removed it, it changed the beam pattern in the center of the beam so it wasn't as flat anymore.

ok heres the short writeup on it from when i did mine...... remove fog housings from car and seperate from black plastic mounts brackets, remove bulbs and clip that holds holder to light, throw them in the over at the same temp as the headlight cover removal writeup i believe its 375 for like 10-15 min, then once done, they will be xtremely hot obviously. take a phillips head and remove the single screw on the portion of the lens connecting to the housing itself. take a flat head and gently pry the lens from the rest of the housing. then once cool to the touch, remove excess glue from the lens portion so ou can reseal later and remove the single phillips screw on the light bulb insertiopn point then the light guard will easily drop out. install caps to your liking and reassemble in reverse order.... ill post some pix in a few minutes
