Disposing Antifreeze

Where do you guys dump your coolant?

I just did my yearly coolant R&R and need to find out where to take it

Advance auto parts says they wont take it.

Any pointers?

Your local recycling station/dump should take it for a small fee.

They shouldn't - after all, you're saving them on winter prep fees for aforementioned pool

I just bring it in a jug to the local gas station/mechanic that I'm friendly with. They dispose it for me for free.

Don't get caught disposing it illegally, there are very stiff fines that can be imposed.
Be careful esp. if you have nosy neighbors.

You might want to contact your local waste management facility; they should have a designated place (or places) for chemical and/or toxic waste collection. In my area they have designated days of the months for different facilities and they take them free of charge.

If you're military or know someone who is have them take it to the post craft shop, they dispose of it for free. Me personally, I take my car to my mechanic and have my radiator flushed and thermostat and belts changed every 3 yrs. That way I don't have to worry about disposing of it.

Alternatively, you could dispose of it properly.

Check with your auto part stores. I think many of them would take your oil/antifreeze/battery/other hazardous material for free.

Ditto. They take oil and antifreeze. I know they are actually paid for their used oil

I had the same question a while back after AutoZone told me they only take oils. But I found that you could pretty much take it any place that does coolant service, for example:

Jiffy Lube
Oil Express
Pep Boys
etc.

...or to a local shop & hope they dispose of it properly.

I know you guys joke around but I believe there are some of you guys who probably do [purposely] dispose of it improperly. I'm sorry but there's no excuse!
