strange glove box problem

So I bought an 03 SE a few months ago and noticed the glove box seemed to be off somewhere along the way. While I had my dash ripped apart having the Bose cut out repair done, I did some investigating.

What I found was two little plastic tabs broken at the bottom of the underside of the glove box compartment. I tried using epoxy to put them back together and it held for a while but just recently came apart again.

Anyone have this problem or know of a solution? I have a sneaking suspicion I don't want to pay for a new glove box. I can't imagine what the prev owner did to break these off.

I think I understand what you are saying and I think that will be a hard fix. There are several Partouts going on on the 5th Gen Classifieds. You may get lucky and be able to buy one to match.

Good Luck

I'll try to get a pic posted here in a day or two. I was kinda surprised there were some on eBay going for <$50. no black ones though yet.

Black is always harder to get, and +1 for the partouts going on. There are quite a few. Dan (Metal Maxima) MIGHT have a spare one, for some reason I'm remembering a thread he posted.

I imagine someone did it while replacing the cabin filters. Try sanding the epoxy you used (80 grit would be good) and redoing it with something like JB weld. Some fiberglass mat saturated with epoxy would help reinforce it. You could also try a couple of black painted sheetmetal screws on the very bottom to hold it.

I was thinking of sheet metal screws as well, they would hold better than the JB weld.

I broke mine in the same spot(s) while I had the glove box out to replace/clean the cabin filters.

A wind came-up suddenly, and knocked it off the high perch I had it sitting-on...

The removal CAN be tricky if you are hamfisted with the box....so, it might explain why YOURS is busted.

Keep looking for a used one....I've never found one meself.
