I am going to remove the drain plug on the tranny pan. For those of you who have done this on the 5.5 gen, how much do I need for the refill? I have a bunch of Amsoil universal taking up space in my garage and I figure a little clean fluid ain't going to hurt.

About 4-5 qrts.

I would drain it into a bucket with a measuring gage on the side. This way you know how much to replace.

 

I thought it was 6-7 quarts......!

 

no 4 liters for shallow pan and 5 for deeper. you can just see it.
Put 4 and then start it and top up, easy!
