Hey guys,,,,,how bout some opinions on what you think about the 2002 tails. I'm thinking about getting some for my Sterling Mist 2001 Maxima. What do you guys think??? Anyone have this setup yet with some pics??? Thanks for any input......D-MAN

 

They look good on Sterling Mist and Icelandic Pearl IMO...

 

I like them, even more if they didn't have the chrome surrounding the round lights. I like the silver background finish with the clear covers; looks much nicer than the aftermarket ones.

Sterling mist is a beautiful color. That was my first choice but the dealer only had a 5speed in Majestic Blue.

 

It would be awesome if they made the orange part clear lense.

How does the color on the tails match with that of the body?

 

I agree I wish the orange was clear too. That would make it look a heck of a lot better. Anyone try changing that yet. Spray tint? Any ideas?

 

IMO, I like the contrast with the Sterling Mist and the smoked looks sporty. On the 2K2 tails, I don't like the orange under the red half circle and I don't like chrome.

Aftermarket tail lights for a 5th gen??? Where did you find those?

 

I think they are ****ing ugly....the smoked ones looks much more better and if i'd bought a 2k2, i'd buy a 2k1 tails and put them on the 2k2

whaddup fools, thanks for posting pics of my car! of course i like the 02 tails on a sterling silver.. mainly cuz it looks a heckuva lot better than those ooglie GXE tails i had before.

the smoked tails are okay, i just don't like that "black eyed" look on the back of my car, IMHO!

 

that car in pic needs a wing or something, it looks way to plain!!!! put the gxe or gle emblem back also......and get a exhaust finisher.....

 

You asked for an opinion:

It's REALLY ugly. They look like a rushed design to conform to some current trend in the sport compact market and somewhat trying to be like a Lexus (Rx line, IS300, etc). They aren't as visible as the 00-01 GXE/SE style taillamps. They are a direct rip off of current rice-trends and other vehicles (previously mentioned).

Not that the 5g has a wonderfully designed rear-end, but adding the 2002 taillamps makes it even more hideous.

However, the 2002 headlamps are REALLY nice and add to the aggressive front end of the 5g Maximas.

Don't add them to your 00-01 if you dislike riceboys...as you will have become one of them (ie. making fun of civic owners with "altezzas")

Get a set of SE tails, paint the clear portion red and you'll have a decent set of taillamps.

 

Damn if either one of you live down in South Florida I would trade with you..I have 01 SE

 

my thoughts exactly...when i upgrade to the 2k2 SE, i'm gonna swap with someone for the smoked 00/01 tailights, or maybe when if i trade in my 2k SE, change it on the spot at the dealer!! that'll be a pretty cool sleeper, from the rear, people thinking it's a 00/01 Max when it's a 2k2 with 255hp, with some mods, Y-pipe, intake and exhause sytem, 275hp?

 

yeah, i'm poor at the moment now that i just bought an XBOX.. why don't you just give me all those things you mentioned????

I agree though...XBox is a total waste of $$....mod up your car..no one wants to see someone playing video games..they want to see a hot car...=)

Funny how most Maxima owners on this board seem to dislike the look of the amber turn signals on the 2002 but quite a few of my friends owning other types of cars, like the 2002 lights better. As for me, I also like my tails but wouldn't mind clearing the amber on them for a different look. To each his own.

I had my 2k2 tails installed on my gle '01 like a few months ago.. Go for it man, they look awesome on my Sterling Mist!!!

 

Do you want to trade? I have a '01 SE AE Merlot with less than 2K miles on it. I want the clear lenses and you want the smoked...??

Looks like we live across the country from each other, otherwise a trade might be in order. I was hoping someone would know where to find them for cheap.
