Cannot remember for the life of me!

What are the performance differences between 5th Gen GLE, SE and GXE?

Thanks

The SE comes with slightly stiffer shocks. Other than that, there is no difference.

And 17" rims, vs. 16" in the non-SE models.

And the manual transmission was only available on the SE.

can anyone elaborate on the spring/shock setup?

I have always had the SE model but they are hard to find right now in my area with what the insurance is giving up. They are working to get me more though

buy whatever and upgrade susp-OEM susp sucks anyway.
IIRC Springs are identical from factory on 00-03 all trim levels
Its the struts that differ. OEM manufacturer is Tokico and the valving is changed for 'better' handling on the SE.

The 17" wheels were options on the 5.0 gen SE.

Let me add a little more to your cup of tea...Stiffer shocks, Stiffer Springs, Larger front Swaybar, & 17" aluminum wheels!!! Do you need this setup? I still have my entire F & R SE springs and dampners setup with about 30,000 miles on them. Interested...$$$...?

lol... i took this 90 degree turn real quick, the front end dipped SO much that it scratched this metal piece behind my lip.. The car had approx. about only 24k on it too. But it was already 5 years old.. Now i have Eibachs and Illumnias!!

I'm debating between a Nikon D90 or suspension mods for my car. Plus i need to paint my hood... hood would be priority... but my bro said he would go HALF on the D90 :P...

My mechanic said the same thing to me a few weeks ago regarding Tokico struts as OEM equipment on the SE. I suppose this explains why people here describe Tokico Blues as basically OEM replacements, although he also said the "blues" were not the same strut, just similar.

So back to this posting... is that it for SE options? Wheels, struts and an optional manual transmission? I always thought it would be neat to eBay the Maxima Brochure from 2003. The Brochure would likely itemize the differences.

You would think they'd figure out a way to shave weight and beef up the brakes when applying a "SE" model designation. However, (sigh) in the 5th Gen brakes were universally crappy across all models.
