Which way do I turn the socket to change the oil?

Which way do I turn the socket to change the oil?
For the life of me, I cannot remove the oil pan socket so I can change the oil, which way does it turn? To me or away from me to loosen.

It depends on which side of the nut you are laying - righty tighty, lefty loosey. use a 6 point socket or wrench.

assuming that your feet are pointing toward the front of the car, away from you. counter clockwise, left. also look in the manual it has a picture.

Most nuts and bolts are right-hand threads, as is your oil pan plug. This means as you look at the head of the bolt (plug), you turn it clockwise to tighten, counter clockwise to loosen.

GL man. make sure you're draining the engine oil and not the tranny fluid.

that is my brother. and he didnt check the engine oil level, just added 4.5 quarts, and luckly i saw the tranny oil b4 he started the car
