Getting New Engine Already
My 2K SE automatic is getting a new engine already. I am with out my car for 6 weeks already. Took about 3 weeks to install it, but every time they test drive the car, they find something else with it.
I had problems with my Max starting very early. The TCM module had to be replaced, needed the brake judder repaired ( they replaced it with the same new, but faulty parts ), my brakes needed replacement twice before 60'000km, I had the rear bumper scratches caused by trunk lid, the wind noise problem, they replaced the six ignition coils and of course the new engine. I didn't get my car from the dealer yet.
I was just wondering if enyone else must suffer the way I have. I thaught I got a great car when I decided to get the new Maxima. I never owned a Nissan before. Is this what they call "flagship car"?
I am sorry, but this is not acceptable.
Anybody else with similar headaches? Any suggestions? It's not the service, they repair what they can. I believe this is an issue with Nissan.

I will needs the luck!
if i were you.. i would get outta that car and into another maxima.
there is a lemon law.. varies state to state.. but that indicates future problems with the car. kinda like alot of bugs and lots of time to fix all of them. my two cents

obviously you no longer want the car...
go with that feeling. Don't shed a tear for Nissan. Honestly, you are very lucky they have done that much for you.
Just so you know, TL's and IS300's are eating trannies left and right. Acura has had to replace ALOT of warped rotors. I hear alot more than Maximas (the owner of a tire place said that he had gotten stuck replacing them after putting new tires on, then realized it is the rotor that is the problem).
The loss of use of your car is the real problem and that is unacceptable.

I had the same problems with my 2k max se. The dealer made me a deal I could not refuse on a 2002 altima 3.5 SE 5 Speed. After enough trips to the service department the dealer finally agreed to take care of the nightmare and get me in a new car.

Good thing Acura & Lexus offer top notch service-unlike Nissan!

Sorry to hear about your troubles - that really stinks
If it's a 2k I'm afraid you're probably out of the scope of most lemon laws, but you could start burning up the phone lines at Nissan of America and they might give you some help.
As for TL and IS300 tranny's, well, hehe, most of the transmissions in those cars go out because of abuse or improper use, at least on the Accord V6. People were complaining left and right about Accord V6 transmission failures so I ran a poll. Of the respondents, there was a 20% tranny failure rate, which is really quite bad. But when you broke it all down it turned out to be only a 4% REAL failure rate, which is probably about average. 3% of these people drove in heavy traffic a lot or drove in a spirited fashion. 1% had an actual "hard failure" (failed solenoid). The other 16% were just beating the shia out of the thing.
The thing to understand about any automotive forum is that most people are enthusiasts and are much more likely to have problems and break things. And many of the people do things that are abusive to their cars without even realizing it. And some of them are just plain ignorant.
These types of people will figure out the "weak links" in cars, but when you have failures reported on enthusiast forums that does NOT necessarily mean that there are legitimate problems with something like a tranny failure.
