VIAS Delete

I've been searching, and reading a lot on the VIAS delete. Still not sure how it all works. What I haven't found, or read is why someone can't just unplug the vac. line to the plunger. Thus, keeping it open all the time. Is this not the same?
Could you pull the VIAS unit out, take the butterfly valve off and put it back in? This way it looks stock and still appears to be working/intact but isn't.

I think what you really mean by VIAS delete is the power rod removal. If you are going to run with the VIAS always open you may as well remove the power rod since the rod itself blocks some air flow. People with raised rev-limiters like the upper HP gains from the power rod removal, however, the loss of torque in the low and midrange is not worth the upper HP gains. Midrange really suffers! I ran my max with out a powerrod for a while... when my VIAS broke, it sucks. Just fix your VIAS if its broken.

Yeah on the 3.5's the NWP VIAS blockoff plate is gonna give you good high rpm gains.

Removing the power rod is valid only on the 3.0L cars.

hey guys i just changed my valve cover gaskets and after removing the intake manifold i heard a jingle inside of it it turned out to be the butterfly valve or power valve or whatever you call it and was completely off the power rod and the worst part.. the screws were gone... im guessing they got sucked into the engine... just got this car too and now im finding this out. I bought some screws that kind of fit with bolts on the other ends but i dont want it falling off again so could someone give me some advice on what to do now? maybe i should just remove it like you guys said..
