2k2 power problems

hey guys. so I recently had my max die on me twice, at the same gas station, two days apart. so I went into sears auto, the tested it, said it was the battery, and I got a new one. but the lady at the counter said the new battery was a little smaller than the old one, but was better with cold starts. so everything is going well, next morning, I turn it on, put the heat on as well as the seat heater and radio, and start driving. less than half a mile from my house, I revv it a bit, and the tach goes to zero and dies! the lights are still on, and the radio and heat, but engine is off. I turn everything else off, and try to start, and it takes three tries. but the TCS light came on as well as the SES. the TCS has gone away after turning off for a half day, but SES is still on. car seems normal and all, just wondering whether I should get it checked out??? maybe the alternator? thanks for your help!

Figure out what codes you have and start there.

It definatly sounds more towards the crank position sensor. But like everyone says, get the codes first. It'll pin point you to your problem.

So, went to Sears, they didn't give me the code, but said it was the Camshaft Position sensor bank 1, and would run me 140+ bucks to fix. So, I go down to a mechanic friend of mine, says they're trying to roll me, and that he could clean and reset it and it would be fine, and if need be replace it for cheaper. What do you suggest?

Sonds to me like you already got your answer from this mechanic friend. You will likely be replacing it.
