Wouldn't the bulb with the shield require proper optical reflectors...and not ones painted black?

Looks sharp. I'm guessing the black will help with the glow more than the shine. Nothing wrong with glow though (guilty)

you are correct..these are for show not function...they still have alot of reflection you just cant see it much in the pics..plus maxima fog lights never really did the job anyway..

i opened them again and took the shield out..i had to move the capsule foward so that the HID bulb could fit in and the shield wouldnt fit back in its place

I had no idea that aftermarket OEM Fogs existed?!?!

Wherever you got those -- you need to post-up a link....lots of dudes looking for those!!

Nice job on the teardown. Never baked a set of lights, but I might've baked myself once or twice...

Did you try and paint the outter ring first and leave the back piece chrome? Not sure if that would complete the look you were going for but I was considering doing something similar myself. I think the black and smoked ones on ebay are completely black out like yours but I wonder if you get a good look and a slightly better light output if you were to paint the inside and leave the chrome reflector behind the bulb alone. Did you try this first and then decide to paint the whole thing? I could try this with the 01 right? Just plastic instead of glass but process should be the same right..

How hard is it to change out the bulb in the fog light assembly? I tried to change the bulbs, but It looked very time consuming, is there something I am missing???

Details on your baking steps? I'd like to bake mine and reseal them just to clean the lenses and modify the shields. Also would come in handy if I ever retrofit projectors into the fogs.
