Strange pop/tack/tick noise

Hey Guys,

I have a 2002 SE, and when I start the car and its been running for about a minute or so I get this strange TACK or POP noise. I also hear this noise when driving at low speeds and also when the car is shut off and parked. To me it sounds like its comming from the driver side engine compartment, but i cant be 100% sure.

It makes no difference if the engine is cold or warmed up, I still hear the sound. And to be more specific, its not a constant noise but sporadic whenever it feels like it.

Any suggestions?

It makes this noise even if your car is parked and running?

Even parked and running... also makes it for a few minutes after the car is off.

Could it be your A/C compressor kicking on?

Heat shield maybe? although I guess when the car is cold it wouldn't make the noise. My car makes a noise and I think its heat shield related. Pretty much like you described.
