i notice a 96-97 bmw comming up behind me followed by a integra pretty quick, i make a quick lane change after they shoot by me and follow.i catch up as the they slow down and the bmw signals victory over the gsr,i get behind the m3 and flash my lights and we line up doing 80mph and go we stay even to till of my 3rd gear ,at about 115mph he's 1 1/2 behind and a curve is comming up which i take doing almost 120mph ,i'm have about 2 cars on him by the middle of the turn and by the time i flash my hazerds he's over 2 cars behind .he flashes his hazerds pulls up next to me revs his engine ,the gsr finally catches up and continues chasing the m3.the gsr was a newer model with exhaust, i'm pretty sure the m3 was auto because i had my older brother in the car and almost a full tank of gas ,also i raced some pre 98 bmw who stayed right behind till 130mph and i beat him by only about 1 1/2 to 2 cars by 140mph which i believe was a 5speed m3(the guy gave up and took an exit)no 328i from 99 down that i've raced ever kept up like that .

 

what mods do you have?

i have seen some M3's and they are no joke.

Stock for stock I think a 330 might be as fast as an e36 M3. Very close. I've only raced an e36 M3 once but I was driving a VW and not my Max.

Quansung have you ran any 330's yet?

Probably raced a auto M3. If i was 5 speed vs 5 speed the M3 would have probably beat you.

just witnessed a 2002 m3 vs. a supercharged 98 m3. man are they quick! very good run for the 98 but the 02 spanked it by about 2 car lengths from 70 - 120mph.

 

Those new M3's are crazy fast. I tried to race one and got my a$$ handed to me.

the 98 was putting 280hp at the wheels. the 02 is somewhere around 290-310.

 

The Max was an auto 5th gen running 9 psi with an IC? I would like to know who this person is.

Looks like Lee and Vanessa went with the 3.25 pulley... for those who remember them.

 

i stuck to a convertible 330s' a!#* after this guy tailgated me and then cut me off from 20mph to 75mph, funny he shut it down once we got on the parkway

 

I have ran 2 m3s both 5spds since I was stock. One was modded, one was stock. The stock one we ran off the line and he pulled a instant car length 1st gear, once I hit 2nd and he did, he stayed one car ahead. I could not gain any ground or lose when we hit 90 or so we let off. They are not that much quicker than us. A modded one kept walking from me slowly. Same type of race. With the mods he has, he can beat one easily.

 

330Ci 5-speed: 0-60mph in 6.4
3.0 E36 M3 5-speed: 0-60mph in 6.1
3.2 E36 M3 5-speed: 0-60mph in ~5.5

Even back in '93/'94 the BMW's M-tuned 3.0 was making more power than the current 3.0.
