ABS Light and 350z rims?
ABS Light and 350z rims?
I have a 2003 Maxima 6-speed HLSD TE Edition and for a month I have been driving on 17" 350z rims without issue. Then today the ABS Light came on. The front tire size is different than the rear. Think there is a connection? Anyone know of any common issuse with these Maxima's and ABS issues.
What are the 2 sizes of the tires?
The ABS senses tire rotation, so if over the allowable limit I would think it would light up the ABS.
A short while ago I raised the front of the daughter's Max and to check for a noise when running. Started it up, put it in drive, light brake pedal to keep the speed, and located the noise, nothing other than dust shield rubbing. When the car was placed on the ground and driven, the dash was lit up like a christmas tree, but after a short time the lights went off.

I've got over 40K miles on my 17" 350Z rims on my 2K Maxima - 35K of that was with staggered tire sizes. I've had not a hint of an ABS light.
You've most likely got a loose or broken wire at or near a wheel sensor, or you've got a messed up wheel sensor. If it's a rear sensor, then I can hook you up for a lot cheaper than a new one, so PM me if this is the case (I have an extra pair of used but good rears, because I had to change my back axle).

There is some difference depending on the model 350Z rims that are installed. If the 18/19 combo there is only about 3/8's difference between the sizes, but on the 18's the difference is about 3/4". That's quite a difference and would think it might cause a problem, but if you've been using them for quite some time and no problem, guess the sytem is OK.
Naturally you can have the system scanned to see what the problem might be, or to check a sensor, I believe the ohms should be 800/1500.
