Please help with grinding issue!

Hi,

I'm hoping you can help me with this...

When I accelerate and hit about 30-40 mph or so, I hear a grinding sound. It seems to come from the engine, not from the wheels or anything like that. It also seems to go away after I reach higher speeds.

Would you happen to know what it is, and how much it would cost to get it fixed?

I'm not too good with this stuff, so I'm hoping all the experienced owners can help me out so I don't get ripped off.

Thanks so much!

take it to a mechanic and have them diagnose the problem. A grinding noise is too vague to get much help in here IMO

It should be pretty easy to tell if its from the engine or the wheels. If the sound increases/decreses with speed, its probably wheel related (wheel bearing maybe). If it varies with the engine rpms, then its probably engine related.

By how you described it, i would guess its wheel related.

Definitely need more info though.....

With all the metal heat shields and plastic cover shield put on motors now, it's hard to tell where a noise is coming from. It's one that a mechanic would have to hear. I'm a mechanic for 6 years now and there is 100 guesses to what it could be. It's really hard to know without hearing it. It's one that HAS to be checked to diagnose properly. Sorry. :-(
