Okay, My current mods are, Hotshot headers, Test Pipe, 22 inch resinator, and a magnaflow exhaust. I Love the Sound it puts out, nice and deep
. What i want to do now is put back the Catalyctic Converter, do a custom 3 inch pipe with a 30 inch resinator. The reason i want to put my catalyctic converter back on is so i can weld some bungs and install my o2ssensors behind the catalyictic Converter to get rid of my codes. I dont want to try an o2sim. Now is anyone runing with headers, and a full cat-back exhaust with the stock catalyictic converter? If so, how does it sound? and what about performance? I still want to keep a deep sound, and not farting sound like most cars out there. Any suggestions? Please provide sound clips if possible. Thanks,

it won't be loud with a cat, it will help resonate it, you might go deeper. Magnaflow mufflers are really good IMO...I would go Maggy instead of flow next time, if i could do it overOriginally Posted by mendezrj03max
Drastically, as in bad?

Sounds sweet. Although im not to happy with the raspy sound when you reach in a high RPM. Thats why i put in the resinator. But other than that its all good. I had the stock exhaust once i installed the headers (stock resinator, cat, muffler) and it sounded as if the exhaust had to much presure, like all the air was getting trapped in there and not getting a good flow. But now i need my cat back on and im just hoping it wont sound like that.Originally Posted by DrunkieTheBear

I thought headers are meant to delete cats so easier air flow? Allowing easier air from from the headers them selves(stock is restricted as crap) threw y pipe out... Wouldn't putting ur cats back on just sorta contradict The point of headers? Or aren't you looking at some hp loss? Just wondering.
Also i'd re-apply that resonator... Imo it's too raspy. But to everyone his own..

The precats are replaced by the headers, thats where the o2's goes, and then the y-pipe follows, then the main catalyictic converter goes behind the y-pipe.. The headers along with the y-pipe does not delete the main catalyictic converter. Thats y i replaced it with the test pipe wich i had bought seperate. But since i dont have my o2 sensor conected to the pre cats and a o2simulator did not work for me, i plan to put back the main catalyctic converter so i can weld the o2 sensor behind it to see if my SES light would go off. so basically welding them after the y-pipe.Originally Posted by e-subliminal-2

BTW the only cat i would be installing back would be the main cat, the one between the y-pipe and the cattback.

Ah I see, Sorry I mis understood thinking you meant the pre cats. I didn't even know that was possible. However I surely haven't heard of anyone with the stock cat on.. Most people I know just go completely after market.

adding the stock cat back will probebly result in very minimal HP loss... a 30" resonator and stock cat will damn near put u back to stock sound lol

See as long as the hp loss is minimal I'm cool with that. I would just leave the cat and take the resinator off but I don't want a rasping. Sound. What of I put a smaller resinator?Originally Posted by Grand_hustle17

I still have my stock Catalytic Converter and stock Y pipe only changed the B pipe and deleted the resonator and changed the stock muffler to a Vibrant 2.5 inlet with twin 3" outlets.

I plan to get my new exhaust set up by next saturday. As soon as I get this set up done ill post a vid ASAP.

magnaflow resonator and a 22" or your 30" resonator... sound and performance should be thereOriginally Posted by mendezrj03max

the cattman 3" cat -back sounds great. I got the resonated one since it's going to be about a year before the turbo gets purchased, hopefully sooner. I had it installed yesterday I'll have the dyno conducted no later than 8/8. It is a nice deep sound barely heard at idle. Not too much drone while crusing unless you're in the wrong gear. Sounds like an Infinity. you gotta hear it in person the you tube clips do it no justice. It sounds far better than the clips make it, of course I've got crappy speakers. BTW Cattman had one system left from our recent build so give him a call.

I have a question regarding smog for you. I'm exempt for now but if I go back to cali I need to know. Have you failed inspection only visually but you still maintain low emissions? I know the CEL is an auto failure, but if you have a mechanic that ignores that visual inspection, will the computer still pass you electronically to the DMV?
this will be the deciding factor on whether or not I get the headers with or without the O2 sim.

you will pass emissions as long as the car is warmed up. Pre-cats are there to catch things as the car reaches Idle operatine temperatures, after that they are useless and it becomes the main cats job to do its thing.Originally Posted by maxurlife

thats pretty much what mine sounds like, with a cheapo $250 custom built exhaust and $80 muffler. Originally Posted by DrunkieTheBear

i welded 02 bungs into my stock locations on my hotshot header and ypipe...got anitparkplug foulers(2 in each package.....2 for each sparkplug so thats 2 packages)...put them on the sensor ...screwed it into the bung and bam...no codes....more info just p.m ill show u pik and everything to do

What does it sound like around that 50-70 mph (2000-2600 rpm) cruising range? Sounds smooth racing the motor that's not the same as driving it and the exhaust gas flow your going get while the engine is really working under a load!Originally Posted by Ghost_54
