RE92's

Based on the post that i have read people really like or really dislike the RE92's in inclimate weather. Which is it? Are there any documented performance reviews of the RE92?

Also is wider better for inclimate weather? I figure that wider is almost always better expect in slush and pooled rainwater.

RE92's SUCK in bad weather. Narrow tires are better for inclement weather...

Imagine running on wet grass with dress shoes that have no traction/tread...

That is how I feel the vast majority of the time when rain shows up!!

I think that's the best description I've ever heard for the RE92s

Thanks! Just struck me since it rained pretty heavy last night around here and that is exactly what I thought it felt like while on the road.

FYI...just put on my Pilot Sport A/S 225/50/ZR17's on my stock 17" rims. Big different in feel immediately. Haven't taken it too far yet...literally just got them on a few hours ago. However, driving around in Seattle, I will have more to tell about wet pavement traction very soon. There is an old thread about this which I will revive shortly to discuss.

The RE92's are just plain old dangerous in the wet. In the dry they are fine.

Hopefully Santa has received my wish list, 4 XGTZ4 / Pilot A/S.

Check out the below thread. I got some details from Michelin on these tires and we've been discussing the benefits...just in case you hadn't seen it.

I've got Pilots on the TLS - they are much better in the wet - it hasn't snowed yet, so I can't comment on snow performance just yet. I think racing slicks might grip better in the snow than the RE92's

The Max already has the Artic Alpins on - it's been pretty rainy around here lately and "running on wet grass in dress shoes" was starting to get a little old.

If I stay with the stock 17" rims, the Pilots will be my next set of tires

ya the RE92's suck donkey ball$. im thinking about getting snow tires for the winter and then getting some nice tires in the spring and switching or something. I HATE these tires, HATE them. i can't wait to get rid of them. compared to my old Pirelli p6000's these suck BAD.
i'd say they are on par with the cooper cobras my 95 had on it when i got it.

Congrats are in order. You will love them. Give urselef about 1K to break them in, then get back to us. You will really find driving that Max to be all about enjoyment. Get back to us soon.

onlinetires.com has the A/S Pilots for $193.00. Is that a good deal or has anybody found better?

That is probably going to be the best price that u are going to be able to come up with for those tires. I am not familiar with onlinetires.com. You might want to probe around the forum for information on them, and if they check out ok, that should be a good deal.

Geeez...when I had my 91 Celica GTS it came with RE92's I think...I remember them being not so bad and they got me through quite a few New England winters...I think they were 215/50 15's.

My Max has the Toyos and I was fine in the snow last winter...although now with 30k on them they spin up pretty good in the rain when I step on it
