There are two different categories for piggybacks really.

First you have the S/VAFC. This is the simplest option to adjust your air fuel ratio, hooks up with like six wires and just manipulates the MAF signal to change how much fuel is going into the engine. The VAFC2 is what a lot of people here use (00VI guys/5.5's) since it has the most correction points so it'll be your best bet as far as creating the straightest AFR curve.

The downside of running these is when you lean the car out on an AFC, it indirectly advances your ignition timing via the MAF signal.

Then you have something more advanced like UTEC by TurboXS. More complicated install but you can adjust the redline, have full timing/fuel control (via injectors/ignition coils, instead of MAF). This gives you a lot more flexibility with tuning and opens the doors up for a lot more power.

You also need a wideband O2 sensor to gauge your AFR.

And in the middle of those two options are the greddy emanage blue and emanage ultimate. I have the blue because it was better than the honda stuff and cheaper than the high end stuff. And it can play around with the timing as well.

Knight, how far can you advance the timing on an E-manage Blue? Does it adjust AFR through the MAF or injectors?

I plan on getting a (new) E-manage Ultimate to do fuel/timing/2step.

Auveeb, a piggyback ECU is an electronic device that manipulates different signals coming off of the ECU to perform a function outside of the factory ECU's operating range. Here a piggyback is used to adjust the air/fuel when the ECU can't (open loop mode).
