my second time at the track vids

No wonder, you need to manual shift it right at 6600. How are you launching? You should be using the power brake then half gas until you loose some of the wheel spin then just floor it. Takes a bit to get it right though.

I agree. Foot brake to 2000 then full throttle after you roll out a little. A drop resistor mod would help out a lot as well! Easier on the tranny and it shifts faster. Like was said above...manually shifting the auto allows you to get another 500 to 600 rpms out of the gear.

Easily!!! I had a 00 Maxima w/16" five spoke wheels and 02-03 front calipers/rotors and they fit really close but they fit!
Part of your problem is your launch...stump on the yellow! Take your MAF/w the adapter, cone filter and your Oem mid pipe and oem resonator and run that instead of the Injen intake (it's too long for 1/4 mile running, it's built for low-mid range rpm). Don't smoke your tires IMO....and power brake from at least 1500 rpm...GL.

Its like a switchable version that's cheaper. The transgo kit modifies the valvebody of the tranny to shift quicker. The drop resistor mod is a switch hooked up to the tranny shock tower resistor. Turn resistor off for fast shifts and back on again for normal shifting. Disabling allows full fluid pressure in the tranny. Many ways to do it...Install a simple switch or a switch under the accelerator pedal that disables the resistor at wot. For the 5th gens it causes a check engine light that I just reset after track use. Look at jime's write up in the nitrous stickies. He swears by the drop mod.

our maximas need some bracing for corners. With the front wheel drive we have bad understeer. The maxima is good for a straight line but deff not the best choice on a road course.

the definition for a closed road coarse (track) is not defined on whether you have an import or domestic... it is a closed road coarse... a track, a nascar ring "track", auto-x "track", drag strip "track" just different kinds of tracks, one a straight line, one a ring, one a curvy road, all in all a track... the reason im conitnuing this whole track thing is because even if it wasnt a track, you know what he was talking about, your post had no significance to the thread and i guess you felt as though it was the most important input to emphasize you personal opinion of a track because i guess u "track"...

obviously the two previous posters have a problem reading and should get that post count taken away........... if you had any idea about elevation and drag strip you would understand... if he was at ur elevation he would have kicked ur **** because it was calculated by someone on here to be a 15.2 run at regular elevation... i did 15.0 with my auto 2000 with ebay intake and greddy catback, so whats your point??? how does that compare to the OP's runs???

Bottomline, practice on your launch! Concentrate on your sixty foot/RT times and all other times will reduce drastically...20-24 psi in the fronts, let the trans shift on it's own, leave it in 3rd gear....powerbrake @1500 rpm and leave on the last yellow light. My 03 stock best time was a 14.9 sec/1/4 mile and my rt and 60' were horrible. Don't heat your tires either you don't have drag radials...GL

Next spring I will replace winter tires with street and there should be a pretty big launch difference with the increased traction.
