VIAS fix in progress!

I've been getting serious power loss starting at 3400 RPM in every gear. Although I knew I had not yet done the VIAS fix, I have not been convinced that it had anything to do with my symptoms. Well, I've got a day or so that I can afford to have my car down, so I decided to do the fix today. Sure enough, as I pulled the solenoid off, the cup just fell out right in my hand. I've got it cleaned up and JB Welded now, so I'll be able to get it back together tomorrow. I'll update with the results then.

While I've got it apart, the white plastic rod in the intake seems pretty loose, but it doesn't just slide out. Anything I should do with it while I'm in there besides clean it?

Success!!!

I got it bolted back together today after a bit over 15 hours of set time for the JB Weld. Took it for a drive, and it seems to have mostly fixed my flat spot. Overall, I'm pretty happy with it. I still feel a bit of hesitation right between 3400 and 3600 RPM, but after that it just pulls right on up to redline with no problem. I don't know why it still has that tiny little flat spot, but it may have to do with the cup alignment when you JB Weld it back to the shaft. I had mine at around the 4 o'clock position, but some other people have it around 3 o'clock. Maybe - and this is PURE conjecture - if it was aligned differently, then the flat spot in the acceleration wouldn't happen. Maybe I've still got some other minor issue. I don't know, but it's too darn hot and humid for me to mess with it anymore.

That hesitation you're feeling between 3.4-3.6k is probably your MAF.

I had the same problem when I bought my car, get the 22680-2Y001 Mass Airflow Sensor and the ECU reprogram and you won't have that bogging anymore

Would this VIAS fix apply to a 2002 as well?
