Headers off 01 for my 03???

some guy was Trying to sell me full exhaust (headers to tips) off his 03 Maxima. It was made for 3.0 Maxima's. he said its the Same thing? and he wants 600 for it?

They are pretty cheap new. so Is it worth paying 200 bucks and getting them off ebay? any power difference??

Ok someone tell me if Im wrong. I'd hate to give out wrong info.

00-01 headers WILL fit an 02-03 but the egr wont be used

02-03 headers may or may not fit an 00-01.

When I got my cattman gen 3 headers Brian sent me headers with the EGR bung sealed off and said its perfectly useable on a 02-03. But he said the 02-03 headers without the EGR cannot be used on the 00-01.

makes sense to me. i wouldnt chance it.

although they did allegedly come off of an 03, maybe they were already modified to work with the 5.5??

Almost positive you're correct here. When I was looking into cattman headers, Brian said the only difference is that the newer models don't have the EGR system. I am assuming that you can just plug it up if you have the EGR port.

Most if not all 01 Anniversary Editions don't have an EGR port. so see if it came off an AE or not

this is the Fact... headers for 95-03 are interchangable 02-03 will not use EGR and iirc some 01's wont (that part i could be wrong)... 95-01 can use 02-03 headers but will need to add an egr port... header design was different for 02-03 because according to most manufacture research a long tube header was better for 02-03 (IDK how they figure, but hey)... it will work none the less

OP, again, depends what BRAND headers you get. If youre getting Cattman, call Brian and ask if you can buy the bolt that seals off the EGR port.

When I got my headers with EGR for my 03, Brian told me that when I sell them eventually instead of selling only to the 5.5 guys, I can open up the sale to 95-03 owners since these headers will work for those years.

ALL '01s do not have EGR. 2000s have EGR.

When I bought my v2OBX headers, I got the 5.5 ones and they fit fine on my 3.0.

If you're looking to block off the EGR bung on a set of headers, don't go the hackish way of welding it shut. There's a plug available from Nissan for this exact purpose, as used on the '01s. Just spend the $9 and do it properly, IMO.

i have the plug on mine as well. brian sent me the "wrong" headers as well, but informed me that blocking off the egr port would be ok as all the headers are the same except for that bung. If you don't need it cap it off. If it doesn't have a bung and you need it... that will cost a few more bucks.

I never looked into this too much, however if there's a bung meant spicifically or this Than obviously no reason to ghetto shut it

how is that ghetto shutting it??? thats what the bung was made for... same reason you would plug a bung for an o2 sensor (OBX headers) its the same way you plug it with an EGR

I quoted the welding as being ghetto shutting it because I wasn't aware there was a bolt meant specifically just for this.
Hence I called my own suggestion "ghetto shutting it" compared to plugging it up the propper way.

Hold your horses there lol.
