Is there any other way to advance the timing, or find out what the current timing is? Yes, I know I could probably search this out, but am trying to bump my status, so that I can actually share my story, and it seems that I now need 15 posts to do so. Asking for some help in this area has turned up nil. I was a previous member of this forum some years ago.

cant get a consult...dealer only device..

check dealerships in your area and you'll basically have to feel them out. Go to the repair area, and ask a tech if they can do it and toss them $20 or $40 to do it. I'm sure the wouldnt mind making $40 tax free for a couple minutes of work.

your advancing your stock timing from 15* to 17* see if you can watch them so they really do it, and use premium from then on...

cant go more than that spec timing is 15* + or -2* from spec. ecu wont hold any more than that. but iff you advance it make sure you run high test fuel to avoid knock.

2 degrees isn't nearly enough to induce knock if you weren't already experiencing it.
