Wheel hopping

anyone has experienced wheel hopping under hard acceleration on maximas?
my maxima does that sometimes quick off the line, the front wheels jump and make noise like going over pot holes, car shakes too.
I heard it can be bad for the axles and tranny. is it because my struts are slightly old?

this is what it looks like, not that severe, but you got the idea

I have the same problem but mine did it before I changed my struts and still did it after I got new ones. I changed my endlinks and that helped just a tad but it still does it. I'm not sure how to fix this problem.

There are a number of contributing factors; (struts, springs, mounts, tires, temperature, added horsepower over stock, etc.)

However, it's likely your motor mounts are old and squishy, allowing the engine to lift too much under load.

I had horrible wheel-hop as well. Installed ES Motor-mount Bushings.

No more hop. Much improved performance.

replace your engine mounts with urethane, and replace the crossmember bushings with urethane as well.

Good point. I forgot about the mount inserts.... I did mine along with the subframe bushings. It did make some diffference. Still have some wheel hop, but not nearly what I did...

I bought the torque link kit from Aaron @ Maxus, and I love it! highly recommend it for any wheel hop issues.

I was investigating a way to eliminate this. Some other forums with a similar setup have guys taking the two front bolts out the of the cross member and putting 2-4 washers to space the crossmember from the frame. This in turn brings the engine forward helping to reduce wheel hop.

Someone may want to try this

I installed the front and rear ES motor mount poly bushings and the subframe bushings, adjusted my struts to (5) front/rear and it grips with no drama now still wish I had LSD in my A/T TE 2003! But once it cools down, I should be ableto perform 60' launches under 2.0 seconds! I was already down to 2.171!
