ebay fstb vs stillen
Anybody have the ebay front tower strut bar? I wanted the stillen but its $100+ and the ebay one is only $10... I dont really care about the looks its more about the function and affordability, but if the ebay one totally blows I wont bother.... opinions or thoughts?

ya, thats pretty much what I thought... stillen isnt that great anyways, I dont have any other stillen gear, no need for a flashy fstb... I didnt see a rear ebay one... I'll keep searching, Im ordering the front right now.
How much of a difference does it make vs stock? I've never had these before. Does it feel better in corners?

I don't think RSTB were ever made for the 5th gen. Besides, they don't make a huge difference on the Max. I've had mine on for about 7 months. I noticed it was a bit more responsive, but not much..
I also had it off for a time when I first dropped my Max, and when I put it back on, I didn't notice much of a difference, really.
You'd be better off saving and buying into Blehmco's LTBs or struts and shocks for your Max.

The image below will link you to the Stillen Website, $151.
I talked with Brian Catts about this a few months ago after buying a Progress RSB from him. He said the RSTB has a very minimal impact, and is mostly for people who track their cars, having already done everything else possible suspension-wise.
Or for people into the bling. It's in your trunk... so I'm not sure about the whole "bling" thing anyway.
All that said, I personally think it's very cool looking. But I'm also not going to buy one. RSB and FSTB are plenty enough enhancement to handling in the way of stiffening the chassis. There are other options, but not so much for the daily driver, IMO.

You know, different front braces will all have different clearance from the intake, which might be an issue if you're thinking about installing intake spacers.
The Stillen and Racingline models have the necessary clearance. I don't know about the ebay ones.
Just one more thing to consider.

I'm not sure how to respond, Hustler. You could try reading slower, if that helps.

It's much more evident if you experiment with the FSTB handling without the benefit of a RSB. If you already have the RSB, you may not notice.
But more to the point... if it doesn't matter, why are you buying one?

Of course the FSTB matters. After you get the brackets mounted, drive with it and without it a number of times. You'll see the difference on the sharp turn-in, and when pulling hard out of a turn from launch.

This is such a n00bish question.
The reason the Stillen one costs so much is cuz it makes your car go around corners faster.
STILLEN = GTR handling. Just crank the wheel on corner entry at WOT and the FSTB will just drive you around the corner.

I have noticed better handling, although mine is neither the ebay one or the stillen one. I have one that says factory tuned on it(heard it was a failed attempt of falken getting into the tower bar business). It cost me 40 dollars because I bought it when they were liquidating the product line. It is pretty darn solid, and looks good(although I need to polish it now due to some wear). For someone with very little suspension mods, I have found it to be beneficial (though that may be due to some placebo effect)

If i said i was going to buy illumina's off ebay i gurantee somebody will come on and say "i hear the ones off ebay dont last as long an you will have to refill the gas in the struts" or "MY FRIEND has one that he bought from ebay and they broke in two while the car was just sitting in the garage overnight" ppl will continue to tell Bold face lies
#38
Trust me dude, it made no difference, its all in the mind... you install it and then go for a drive and try to pay keen attention to your suspension so you pay more details to lil stuff thats been there that u havent paid attention to before, so you think its the strut bar... i gurantee you if you could some how test you car to see how fast it can go around a corner with and without the strut bar i can 99.9% gurantee you there would be no MPH difference... RSB is what makes a difference, maxima's dont have problems with understeer so the FSTB doesnt do much if anything, we suffer from oversteer so we need the RSB to keep our chassis from giving out around turns hense why the RSB is 100 times better and more expensive

Personally I've lost a lotta faith in stillen products. Things like headers, catback, and FSTB are best bought on eBay. I see no difference in performance gains, just a fancy sticker or the the etched in.

GH - you're not driving fast enough, lol!
I just got it to see if it'll at least attenuate some of my excessive roll (and bump steer) I experience...for $28, worth a try; but there was no way that I was gonna be modifying/cutting/etc. my car to make it "work" - just wanted to make sure it was a direct fit.
