BTY, since you guys bought the headers on ebay why not search for the bungs there too?

Thermocouple wire will suffice.

Question to most, have you ever had your rpm needle into the redzone without a TS, Utec, or E-manage and the car did not over shift or hit the rev limiter???, now please dont interpret this question wrong im not in anyways shape or form saying the headers raised my revs or anything, but until i installed the headers i WOT the car yesterday and manually shifted and when shifting from 2nd to 3rd i shifted at about 6300 and it kept climbing to 7K i've heard of 5.5's that has like a 300rpm error or something of that sort, it never hit the limiter and it kept climbing (i liked it too ) but has anyone ever encountered this???......... i tell ya what, im not a fan of that whole "butt" dyno thing and i think most of those are greatly exaggerated, but for a car with a MAJOR exhaust leak and 3 blown o2 sensors (bogging n all), it still felt faster than with the stock headers, before i was shooting for a PB of 14.1 maybe 14.0, but i think ima raise the bar to 13.9, im so anxious to get everything running right and to finally get my damn car back in good shape

Hustle- That rev thing sounds like what my car did last time at the track on my 2-3 shift... it just kept climbing and didnt shift, thats why I had to let off before the end

if it was only as easy as you make it seem lls... man i might just leave that damn thing off... if it affects my dyno then ill go through the hassle, but the leak moreso sounds like my flex section... lil rattle or like sticking paper in a fan along with an open header sound lls

I sure hope not it shifts fine in D but it just loves to eat redline if I shift manually. I would like to test it out more but I cant really go that fast anywhere except the strip...

if it has anything to do with a cat, it should be fixed when I install my obx and megan catback though

about ur leak... did you use all new gaskets and get all the bolts on? maybe you can use some exhaust sealer tape around the leak? (can't remember what its called)

Naw its a error that all maximas have.....after like 5800 rpms the tach is off by 300 rpms.....so it will go to about 6800 rpms but ur actually shifting at 6500

What about my 6 spd and the AFC says 7k rpm
It wasn't consistent on the old car, but it did it and buried the needle in the red nice and far. Pretty much only 2nd gear, though.
I would shift and it didn't hit the rev limiter, so idk if it would keep going a bit or not. I already think these ECUs are retarded, this is just more evidence haha.

YES I KNOW, DEAD THREAD.. but this thread cannot end here... I'm in a similar situation to the OP minus the trauma and although having read other threads, this one is exactly what I was looking for. Ghustle what was the final outcome?? Dyno #s?? Source of the leak?

Regrets and tips for future attemptees?

Hey grand hustle, im actually interested in getting headers and my main reason isnt for performance but just to save my engine (bad cats so hopefully less oil burn and better fuel economy). I dont care which ones I get as long as it's relatively affordable. I was looking into the 3.5 OBX's but if u were able to have these work, do u mind talkin to me about it a bit? I'll PM you in a little bit about the 3.0 OBX headers.

yeah, im just thinkin, since i dont really care about sound/performance and my main reason is for replacin cats, if I were able to save 150 by gettin the older ones for 250 shipped (as long as install is no harder than the obx v2's) then id rather get them. This is still a couple months from happening since im tryin to graduate first.

I'm also thinkin that if I don't tune it, it can wreck my main cat and also give shi++y fuel economy if im running rich or it can wreck the engine if it's lean? I don't track or do hard driving. At most i floor it once every 3 weeks or so.

Am i right about my assumptions and so i must tune it? Or is it unnecessary when doing normal regular daily driving under 3k rpm?
