Your opinion on a transaction

So I put out a thread labeled "WTB: Bose Amp and Sub" for my '02 Maxima and got a few PMs in response.

I agree with the first come, first serve principal and a fellow member responded first with "I have what you need." I kindly tell my other responses that I am in negotiations and after a few follow ups with the first responder we decide that he will ship me the amp and sub for $55, not bad.

The package came in a few days later and I open it up and find that it is only the SUB. I PM the member back with "I got the package today. Where is the AMP?"

He responds with "It's part of the subwoofer, located inside the black plastic housing. There is a brownish wiring harness that leads to the amp, the amp itself isn't very big, but it's all there."

I responded with "If you goto this thread, there is a picture of the AMP and the SUB. The first pic is of the AMP. http://forums.maxima.org/5th-generat...amplifier.html

As you can see this member was selling his AMP for $25 and his SUB for $35. I paid you $55 for an AMP and a SUB, but you misunderstood and sent me a SUB for $55. How can we fix this misunderstanding? Do you have the AMP which is pictured in the thread above? I am willing to pay the shipping cost for the AMP if you have it."

The seller then responds with "... I don't know what the other member was selling as the "AMP", but the amp sits in the plastic under the subwoofer."

I thought that it is pretty obvious that when I stated I want to buy a Bose Amp and Sub that you can conclude I don't mean just the Sub with its integrated Amp. I asked kindly for some sort of partial refund and am waiting to hear back.

I know it's a misunderstanding and just wanted some opinions on what you guys would do in my situation. I know it's only a few bucks, but its the principal that matters to me. Let me know what you think.

IMHO, I think 95% of you guys would understand what I mean by "WTB: Bose Amp and Sub" and I believe I just got unlucky to have my first responder to fall within the 5%.

did you use paypal? you could report that you did not recieve the product you paid for, Im pretty sure they can help you out by reversing the payment.

I would try and work with the guy to get your money back and send him the sub back before you do that though.

And yes it is obvious... I have bose and there is a sub and beside it is an amp... seperate units

Exactly, I am planning on sending him a link to this thread to show him my point. Shipping the sub back is another $10, so I don't think it's worth it and hopefully we can settle this reasonably.

You should go back and read the thread. That's not who he bought the stuff from.

He was just using that thread as a reference to the seller, letting him know this is what the buyer expected.

So, you gonna let us know who this person was you bought it from? There is a Buyer/Seller feedback forum for this stuff as well.

I am waiting until we agree upon a settlement. I asked for a $15-$20 refund which I believe is fair. If he sends me the refund there is no need to disclose his identity because it was an honest mistake.

This is the reply I got from the seller after I asked for a partial refund or to send the item back and split the shipping.

"I'll gladly refund all of your money in return for the sub AND amp. I apologize for the misunderstanding. So you want $50 put into your Paypal account?"

I don't know if I'm being harshe, but this is what I responded.

"Ummmm, OK. I guess you'd rather WASTE another 5 of your dollars and 5 of my dollars rather than to spend the extra 10 bucks to compensate for YOUR misunderstanding and not WASTE any more of BOTH of our money. If that's what you really want you can put $50 into my paypal. Just makes no sense at all to me. Thanks for WASTING my time and money."
