Tranny Drain plug -magnet super clean

Back then I was in doubts whether the drain plug was magnetic or not and I was told here that it is.

Well, just changed the trans fluid and was amazed to barely find a very so thin layer of microscopic powder, almost barely nothing to the point that I thought the drain plug was just simply dirty. So I happened to find a small magnet and sure enough I proved to myself that it's magnetic

Moral of the story: I was amazed to find how clean my transmission is running. In every single manual trans car that I had, I always found considerable amounts of wear and tear stuck to the magnet but not in this maxima. HOWEVER, as equally amazing, the trans still shifts like crap lol (the usual notchy shift we all get)

BTW I'm running Redline 75W 90

You have a large magnet inside your transmission that you cannot get to without cracking the transmission case open. Keep in mind, the magnet will also only attract ferrous metal particals.

ahhhh huh, thats the info I was missing. So I gather since it's most likely a larger magnet that it's picking up most of the debris, thanks for the info.

The magnets are in the bottom of the tranny pan.
Just drop the pan and you can clean them up.
You'd be suprised at how much gray metalic muck they collect.

Well, on the other hand though, I'm sure other manufacturers employ this simple magnet technology in the trans. Just that other trannyies that I have drained showed considerable amount of debri.
Highly doubt that the magnet is so strategically placed in this car over other cars that the drain plug does not get no debris at all

Tranny pan? On a manual transmission?

Magnetic drain plugs are quite decieving... What is really cooking in a tranny is unknown until a UOA is done on the fluid.

Very true, also had my share of blown trannies yet shavings did not show to be all that bad.

It just really hit me when I saw this drain plug, Regardless whether every other manual trans has magnets or not (know for sure they don't have pans) this plug was exceptionally clean
